Jay Leno vs Conan OBrien

Are there many late night TV watchers out there? Do you watch Jay Leno? A few years ago it was announced that Jay will retire soon and NBC right away said the position will be given to Conan OBrien.
What do you think? Will he do a good job? Do you think Conan will have to move out to LA to do this or will NBC move everything to NY to compete more directly with Letterman?Personally, I love Conan. I love to watch his show but I think he will have to adjust a bit to the crowd that follows The Tonight Show. I think he is up to the task and will do a great job.

Well I'm actually a routine viewer of both shows, as i've watched both of them for about 3 years now. At the beginning I liked jay a lot more than conan since I thought conans humor was really odd. But later on I've started to notice I laugh much more and enjoy myself when I watch conans show and not jays show. Now I watch conan's show regularly and jay's show on and off. I've also heard about jays retirement and I am really scared for conans future, leaving his regular broadcasting studio after 13 years and moving to a new place with, to my taste, a completely diffrent crowd. I hope all will be for the best.

I can only handle Conan in small doses, I can't sit through the whole thing. I think there is a reason he is on so late at night. I love Jay and will probably never watch the show again once he is off. When I'm working I rarely watch TV that late anyway.

Thanks for the response, fluffysue. I'm sure you wont be motivated to stay up late to do this, but I hope you will give Conan a chance and watch a few times. I really feel like he is going to do a great job. I undertand your needing to take him in small doses, he can be a bit silly. I personally believe that has a lot to do with the demographic he plays to at that time. He has an amazing interview style that I think is much better than Jay and reminds me a bit of Johnny Carson. I can't wait to see how he does.

OK, I admit I do not usually make it to the interviews, so possibly he does interview better than Jay. I am not a big fan of interviews unless I really like the guest, though. I am sure once he is in Jay's time slot, and I have no choice but to watch him, or turn it off (I hate Letterman, other than the top 10 list), I will learn to like Conan.

I absolutely love Conan O'brien. I think he is hilarious. He's quick to catch things and make jokes. The show's sense of humor isn't for everybody, I guess. One of their big jokes is running a joke into the ground....which in return makes it hilarious again. (like the Walker Texas Ranger lever).
