Do you send your kids to summer camp?My son is a Boy Scout and has gone to camp for the week.I asked him what his plans for merit badges were for the summer and he said "Archery" and Rifle Range" Now I realise how exciting this will be ,but sometimes I worry about his safety because there's no way of knowing in advance who or how these classes are conducted . Do you send your kids off to camp? Do you worry about their safety and welfare or do you just revel in the peace and quite for the week?

Hi, yes i think i would send my kids for the camp , but provided they are old enough to take care of themseleves, my elder one would go and have fun there though the younger one is still small and needs to be taken care of at times. They do have a lots of fun and learning side by side and its a good chance for them to mingle with and make friends with many people together at one time too.

My daughter didn't learn about a camp she wanted to go to until she was 11. At that point she could only go for two years as then she was past the age limit. I wish we had found the camp sooner. She loved it so much she didn't want to come home. Now, we could be sending our younger daughter but she has not expressed a desire to go. Plus we just can't afford it anymore. I wish we could because they are so bored here at home during the summer with all the other kids away. But they have soccer once a week and they are content with that. I have never worried about safety at camp. There are people trained there to handle the activities involved, and as someone else said, accidents can happen anywhere... even in your own backyard.

no we do not. a) because we cannot afford it and b) because my daughter would not go because she would get homesick. my kids go to 'camp grandmas' upon ocassion when i am at work and my parents do stuff with them like take them to the beach etc.

I love summer camp! When I was in my elementary and high school years, my parents allowed us to join campings. It fun and exciting. I learned alot from those experiences. I think as a parent like, I too will be very worried about my child's safety and security. But accidents can happen anytime and anywhere. I tell you these kids needs exposure, so just believe that nothing can go wrong. Our minds have the power, so if you believe that you child will be ok, and you keep that faith am sure God will be there for you and your kids. My friend am still single and sometimes, I know that its easy to say but its hard to do it. Thanks for considering my advice here. God bless!
