Cat Myth

MYTH: Cats are loners, so it won't matter if my pet is home alone all day while I work. TRUTH: Although they can be quite self-reliant when necessary, most cats are social creatures who need lots of attention and affection and shouldn't be left by themselves too long. If your job keeps you away from home for most of the day, consider adopting two kitties so they can keep each other company. Yeah, it's funny how cats can be so different. I'm glad you know your cat's body language and realize when she doesn't want to be bothered. Sounds like you're a good cat mom. Some of them really are loners. But most cats I know love attention.

I totally agree with you on this one. When we were looking to adopt a cat I wanted to only get one but my husband convinced me to get 2 so that when we are not home they wont be totally alone. Once in a while when only one is awake and dosnt know where the other is they will meow and I will answer them and they will come running for attention. I love it.

That's funny what you say about each cat wanting to know where the other one is. My cats have a sixth sense about that. One of them cat be curled up on my lap asleep, and suddenly pick up his head and look at the stairs. Sure enough, there's the other cat sneaking down silently on little kittie feet. I never hear him coming. They're so funny.

Thank you for sharing this. So many people get cats, and don't have a clue about their care and needs. I hope this helps them out. Bless you.

I don't have cats, but I worried about that when I moved into a new apartment. I wanted a dog, but I didn't want it to be alone. So I got two of them. They are much happier together than they ever would be apart.

Awe. I bet your dogs love to play with each other. If I had dogs, I'd get at least two also.

My cat, Queen Bea, is very attached to me and I to her. I thought she would be all right when I went back to university since my husband was home all day. He said she cries for me for about 10 minutes, he soothes her, and then she settles down. When I come home, she meets me at the door for cuddles. She also sleeps on my side of the bed - under the covers. I've never known a cat to do that! When she gets too warm, she sleeps on my pillow.

I have seven cats so none of them are ever alone. They love to sleep with one and other.I have one sitting on the desk with me right now.

My cat is definitely a loner. He hates to be stroked unless it is on his terms! As for picking him up and cuddling him then that is really out of the question. He is out all night (his choice) and in all day, but asleep most of it unless hungry!! It is strange as his brothers and sisters, who live with my son, are very affectionate and never leave you alone when at his house. Still, like us humans, we are all different.
