i envy those people who can speak in public without stammering. i'm not scared going one-on-one, but let me speak in a crowd and i just clam up. i'm pretty good in written english, but public speaking? i don't seem to have this gift. what about you?

Actually, the skill is developed. If you're O.K. with one-on-one, then here's a little trick that might help you. When you are in a crowd, just look at one person and speak to them. Focus on one person and you'll soon be able to block the other people out.

i hope that works. thanks so much. i'm rating you for that. but wouldn't that one person feel overly conscious or whatever? maybe he'd think i'm interested in him. haha. thanks, really.

I also am envious of the lucky person who can just stand up and speak in front of people like it is nothing. I cannot CANNOT do it. I turn about 600 shades of red, stammer, make no sense, etc. I was definately skipped over when they were handing out the public speaking gift. I was probably out shopping - LOL!!!

I definitely think it is a gift and one that I do not have. I was valedictorian of my high school class and hated giving the speech. I always feel like I am going to mess up and get embarrassed in front of everyone.

Yeah public speaking is definetly a gift. Not everyone can hold a crowd's attention for a length of time. I too clam up when speaking in public but its not too bad. I can participate in a debate cuase thats extempo. however if I have to give a speech its nearly impossible for me to remember all that I have to say.

its a matter of confidence there are some ppl who is naturally confident. so i think it is a gift. but the confident can be trained and if someone is use to do it, the confidence will grow within
