Why Worry When You Can Pray?

In our lives, we get to those times that we really worry - about financial matters, about our education, about our family, about certain directions we want to take for our lives. But then... I've come to realize that worrying is not useful. It cannot change the past nor predict what will happen in the future. Right? It will just make your miserable today. With regard to my previous discussion about looking at the good things of life, I received another topic in my mail from Andrew Matthew's site. =) ------------------------- Kick the Worry Habit! Most of us WORRY. Some people will even tell you that you SHOULD worry! But worring is worse than USELESS! Firstly, it attracts misfortune. Secondly, it is bad for your health! So what should you do about worry? POSTPONE it! TAKE ACTION first - and postpone worry indefinitely. That's what effective people do. Here is your mission for the next 24 hours: Whenever you want to worry, ask yourself, "What is the problem RIGHT NOW?" Guess what you'll find... Unless you are in a life-threatening situation, you DON'T have a problem. Look at your life. Has there been a situation you didn't survive? There hasn't! You can HANDLE the present. It is just the FUTURE that gives you trouble! So your mission is to focus on the present. Your mind will want to drift into the future. Your mind will want to ask questions like: "What happens if...?" Drag it back to the PRESENT. Tell yourself: "If there is SOMETHING I can do now, I will do it." "If there is NOTHING I can do right now, I refuse to worry." Make this your motto: "I take whatever action I can now - and I postpone worry!" "I deal with problems MOMENT BY MOMENT." ------------------------- Have a wonderful Wednesday morning everyone! God bless! =)

So true, sr! Worrying does no good whatsoever! It has only a negative effect on our bodies and our emotions as well. I used to worry so much, I got sick! What a waste! Since I have given my life to Jesus, I know that He is in control of everything and I don't have to worry. He tells us not to worry about anything. God will provide our needs. As I look back on my life, I see that God has helped me and I worried for nothing. Worrying is a waste of energy. We need to give it all to Christ and trust that He will take care of us. God bless you!

Hi Springlady! You're right about that. We should lift up our pains, struggles, even our goals and dreams to the Mighty Above. :) As it was written in Proverbs 16:9, "We can make our plans but the Lord determines our steps." He's in control of everything. And He made a promise never to forsake His children. He'll always be there for us. So, why worry? *smiles* Such a wonderful promise from an amazing God! Enjoy your weekend! :) God bless!

This is a wonderful, positive topic, sr. Everything it says is absolutely true. We should all try to frr ourselves of the habit of worrying. It brings us nothing but unhappiness.

This is a lovely pot and an important one. I really think that alote of people in many moments in life, forget the most importent thing, that we can be happy, just by believing that we are happy. There will always will be things that we can worry about, but is this really what we want? There are also many things that we can be happy about. So it all sums up to the fact that we are the one's that really decide how are life will be. We have a choice to worry or just to be happy and know that everything will be solved in the way it should be.

Hi sr0415! That is very nice...putting WORRY in its place. I will keep that in mind. But you know I can't help but worry most of the times about the people I love and care about and also with so many things. That's why I always resort to the Power of Prayers which gives me peace inside. Have a good Wednesday too! :)

Hi faith210! :) Worries attack us from time to time and sometimes, it's just easier to take your white flag and say, "Okay Fine! You win." But it shouldn't be. Tough times like this help us shape our character. Agree? God bless!

Thank you very much for this post, it is indeed wise and optimistic, just what I need at the moment. With so much on my plate, I tend to forget that worrying does no good and kind of comes into everyday life. Hopefully some of us will change this habit overtime.

Hi kyukyu! I'm glad that there are people like you who wants to welcome change by taking worries out of their system. :) I also pray that you will be unburdened by your heavy loads. Pray and seek for His guidance. Lift to Him those things that you worry about. (",) I wish you well! Have a happy weekend! :)

Yeah, that is easier said than done. Not everyone is into praying much anymore. I think it has something to do with being impatient because of instead gratification.

That's a very useful and wisdom thought. I really need something like this. Yeah, worrying is not a useful thing to do, but many of us still worry about the uncertainties. I used to worry a lot before, but after some time I begin to look at the world in a different perspective. Worrying won't help me even a bit. So I just try to be happy, and accept whatever is happening to me now.

Hi ladysurvivor! :) Learning from our fall make us stronger people. Worries eat up our system, some times. But learning how to deal with them determines how strong or weak we are. God bless! (",)

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Phil 4:6-7 Life is full of the unexpected. Things do not always happen according to our plans. We do not know what tomorrow may bring regardless of how well we plan. We worry about our jobs, our finances, our children, our calling, our spouses and all sorts. But God says, "Don't worry about anything.?Just commit them to me in prayer." I can take care of it. Worry does not solve any problem. It makes it worse. It makes us fall it, make the wrong decision and multiplies our sorrows and robs us of our testimony. You and I can pray. God is only a prayer away. We can take comfort in the fact that we have a God who has the whole world in his palm; One who know and hold s the future; One Who loves us with an everlasting, unfailing love; One Who has great plans for us. thats a very positive view. Indeed one don't have to take care of the worries because if you do, the worries won't leave as they love being cuddled. If you continue useless worrying, the worries will enjoy staying with the free board and lodging plus your caress, who wants to leave? so the next time worries come to visit you... drive them away and shut the door ! flowerfactory
