How Do You Deal w/ Circumstances That Bring You Down?

"What brings you down can either break you or make you." ***** This was one of the reflections in Didache - a Catholic Daily Reflection Guide. I realized that all of us are given the choice of how to take and respond to certain circumstances that we need to deal with. I had my share of ups and downs. The ups always make me hyper - always on the go for things and goals I want to accomplish. The downs, well... really bring me down. It is somewhat a contradiction to what most people think that I am mature and strong enough to handle down moments. I am not "that" good. I'm just good at hiding - or maybe dealing with it. Usually, I ask help when I really don't have the capacity to deal with matters at hand. And that's the only time that others know I'm going through such dilemma. Pride. After reflecting on the reflection (huh! They have the same root word. Hehe), I realized that there were instances in the past where I chose to give up. Giving up was just so easy. I just had to surrender. Just take my white flag. Then, stop fighting. Still, [they haunt me]. They are the ghosts that keep on following me. And since, hmmm.. they're "haunting" me.. it means that I'm given another chance to deal with them. This time, I can't say I really know 'how-to' but I believe I'm wiser enough to now face them and find that closure. Lately, I realized that FALLING IS JUST EASY; the [process of getting up] is the hardest, especially if it is a hard fall. I am into this situation right now. When I try to look back at it, the fall just happened in a snap of a finger and with just a blink of an eye. And suddenly, *bAng* my oh-so-sheltered-Life was never the same again. I am still going through the process of getting up. What keeps me moving on? It's the drive within me to keep on fighting and the hope that soon, things will be better. :) I also have a solid and loving family who walks with me in this long hard road. And the greatest weapon that I have? my faith in Him. *** God bless everyone! :)

I do the best that I can by not trying to think about it too much. I try to let go of the problem and enjoy life a little.
