Bickerings!

after numerous post and discussions over the 2 months i am in mylot, i came to the following conclusions. PEOPLE JUST HATE IT WHEN OTHERS ATTACK THEIR BELIEFS. duh.. beliefs here does not necessary mean religion, rather but what they believe and live by. a way of life maybe. of what they consider to be a good hobby. the final ending of Harry Potter even. but then religion wise, dang it! i am going to get flame for this, my opinion is... there are so many bickerings in mylot i lost count. but one category of bickering that stands out are 'religions' category wise. An atheist MUST argue that Christianity is wrong and false. else if they do not, than being an atheist has no meaning. its not that an atheist in mylot can ignore Christians and laugh it off and worry about better things, but to repeatedly show their proofs that God is man made. Atheist MUST argue that there is no God and no scientific evident of God, thats their bible. being an atheist, you CANNOT just "dont' care", you must continue proving to the world that religions are false else you are not an atheist. A Muslim is spared the atheist wrath.Islam is no fun for atheist to attack. they on the other hand must insist that their religion is a peaceful one. with the many bad rep their religion gets in the news these days, they must at least try to do something to counter the accusation. no one can blame them for trying. muslims in mylot attacks Chrisitans doctrine too to prove their religion is real. they need a arch enemey to exist.... and why not? everyone seems to be on it. A pagan is one "religion" no one can fully understand..yet. pagan in many parts of the world shows different thing. somewhere in Europe pagan are maybe those who are at one with nature. in Borneo, those are head cutting tribes old religions. in desert somewhere they may be those that prays to wandering spirits. in online dictionary http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary_1861723003/pagan.html it means words to denote those that are not from the mainstream religions. in south pacific those that eat people and offer human sacrifice. pagan insist that they do not worship the devil. but at the end of the day, everyone is as confuse as ever with different pagans saying different things. maybe they are atheist with a side order of belief? atheist and Muslims rejoice! other "breakaway Christians" (mostly not protestants) insist that the Pope is the 666. these group are tired of traditional worship and the head church and decide to have their own version of Christianity. conspiracy theory galore! for cafeteria philosophers? they think that IF anyone can scientifically prove that God exist therefore He is not God. but heck no one can provide proof the existence of the lochness monsters. so philosophers continue to reason. the Christians? in order for what Jesus said to come true, what EVERYONE say against Christians, must be said. Matt 24:9

I really like learning about other religions, and it always disappoints me when a discussion that could have been interesting and enlightening turns into a shouting match between people of different faiths. As far as I'm concerned, I don't have to prove anyone else wrong in order to validate my own faith, so I usually prefer to just let things go rather than argue, especially once it turns into essentially the same people making the same arguments over and over again.

Oh, and as far as "pagan" meaning just about anything, that's why I usually say "Celtic Reconstructionst Pagan" and then go on to break it down for people if they ask. =)

debating is the one thing that has furthered man kind into this age... anything from debates in science to philosophy to morality, it has always put us ahead of the last generation. feelings will be hurt, but that is a small price to pay for improvement.

This is really sad, instead of sharing thoughts and points of views in a good manner, people tend to step up with one another. I always believe that this site has a good purpose, but not for the purpose of discussing religions and creating debates. I believe that there's a right place for this topics to be dealed with properly, just a piece of my thought.. Peace, good day to all..

I believe that everyone has a right to their own beliefs. They also have the right to discuss them peacefully, and to debate about the issues. I don't believe that there is any room for bickering about them here though. I don't see any reason why members here should be rude or nasty to others. This is a discussion board, and no one has any reason to be abusive to other members, no matter what their reasoning.

"..discuss them peacefully" peace in this world is hard to come by, be it the id!ot that cuts in front of you at the check out counter or "disagreements" in the middle-east. in mylot, peace is a very precious commodity.

There is such a thing as speaking up for yourself without starting a war. I don't think that anyone needs to get nasty in order to make their point.

some people have to be nasty like my neighbor's wife who sings the song "Sad Movies" ala karaoke daily trying to convince the neighborhood that she can sing. awww! nasty!

my point being, you need to have at least a number like over 500 right after your name, before you understand the point. :) either that or you can ask everyone else that has eloquently replied to the discussion.
