Can someone please explain to me what the heck is RSS feeds?

Im new to the computer technology and just finally figured how to set up my e-mail and stuff.Pretty funny eh?When im on the internet i see RSS feed and say" whats that,some kind of virus?or what?.Stumped.

you can say that RSS is a smart way to keep track of all happening things on your favourite websites ... it would tell you whenever there is something new on your favourite website ... more tecnical info is available at :www.wikipedia.org (search RSS feeds here)
