Open your Bible in the middle, and you will find the Book of Psalms, the longest of all its books. This collection of sacred songs reveal the heights and depths experienced by many, who have struggled through temptation and affliction to glorious faith and supreme victory. There are one hundred and fifty of these hymns of devotion, but the best known, and probably the most loved is psalm 23, often called, the shepherd psalm. The psalm begins,"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." Doesn't it just give you a great feeling, a great lift. Every thought has some effect upon our minds and bodies, the negative kills, the positive uplifts. Read this psalm, memorize it, repeat it when you get discouraged, when you feel that life has let you down. It will help you raise your head again,it will give you new hope.

I agree that Psalm 23 is a great tonic, but I would like to point out one thing.
This Psalm has absolutely NOTHING in it for anyone who cannot truthfully say the first five words. This Psalm is all about relationship. It is about possession. Just check out the number of "I" "me" "my" in these few verses. Nowhere is there a "you" or "your".
