Scam via Phone today... Tell me what you would have done Or do you think it wasn't??......Ok it's roughly around 6:30 pm I get a phone call.. Hi you have won a Caribbean cruise for two from Orlando Florida to the Caribbean.. You name was drawn from the head of the lakes fair (The fair I went to last weekend)I thought to myself cool I can really, really use this.. Perfect timing.. Anyway we are still talking and he's giving me all the information that was on the form that I filled out.. Well than he wanted my husband near the phone to hear all this.. He comes near and than the guy tells me in order for me to send you this paid vacation I need your credit card information.. As soon as my husband hear that he said NO!!!! It was only 2.99 per person.. He wanted everything off my credit card.. I asked him if he could just send me the information and i send a money order or than give him the information when I got it... He down right refused well than my husband told me to tell him to pass the cruise off to someone else.. Believe me I got really depressed than I could of taken off for a week..But thought this guy was trying to get my credit card information to scam me.. So unfair.. Do you think I actually won this trip? Or was this person really trying to scam me?

He was just scaming you. If you won then he should send the tickets and you should be on your way..He doesn't need credit card information from you if you won something...Did he give his name? You did the right thing and it is cruel what he did to you...

It was mean and awful. Getting me all happy like that and than find out it was just a scam.. Tomorrow I am going to call the board of the fair and find out what is going on and how he got my number and such.. They had to have given it to him in order for him to call me right and have him say that stuff to me.. If this is a fraud and knowing that he did this can the board get into trouble for giving him this information to him and having him call me and do this to me? My husband had something about it but can't recall cause the person woke me up in the middle of my nap... grrrr lol not to mention he was talking pretty fast also.. so it got me pretty confused.. Thanks for your reply!

I would surely call the fair board and tell them exactly what happened...I would think they would know who called you..unless this guy stole the cards you guys filled out at the fair..this is so sad because this is the reason you filled out the card in the first place right? To win a cruise..I am so sorry for you and like I said, do call the fair board and maybe the attorney general in your state...This is so wrong....that would be identity theft and he could be doing this to others....

I just called her and she told me they don't give out door prises or things like that, so the man lied to me and said that to get a hold of my information... Talk about being upset now.. I am very glad though I didn't this person my credit card information.. My mom was there also I am calling her right now to let her now what happened so she don't give out her information as well...

first... if you do not join any contest or raffle, it is really a scam, second,, is there any way you gave out your contact information to that fair for any reason other than join a contest, then that person is definitely scamming you.... as a general rule, if you dont join a contest, how come you win! definitely a scam.

The matter of the fact is I did join a contest but it say anything about a cruise at the least the guy didn't.. What now gets me is the fair board said they knew nothing about it.. But the guy says it was for the fair so I didn't think anything of it..

if the fair board know nothing about it, i guess you better be cautious. the board should know of any contest in the fair if ever there is one. just be careful in giving your personal info.

Most definitely a scam. Once you part credit card info and CVV details, well the person is gonna go an a spending spree, or pass on your info for a fee to someone else who will rip you off, have a ball with your card details on the internet leaving you holding a big sum to pay off. And the credit card company will hold you responsible for having parted with your info.

I'm really not depressed actually, believe it or not but I am very happy with myself and not to mention my husband because of the fact we knew and we weren't going to let this person scam us by us giving out such information.. People do this every single day and people end up being scammed because they are not warned about people like this.. I have realized though when someone calls and ask for such things with out something in front of my face they are going be hung upon..

Heck no you didn't win and yep it was a scam. First question is, did you register to win a trip? Second, why couldn't he send you a voucher? Third if you didn't have a credit card would that have disqualified you? You all did great, never give any personal information about yourself to a stranger over the phone.

I did fill out some information for door prises but the thing is It wasn't for a cruise though, that's what wasn't making any sense to me.. I couldn't figure the one part out either why he couldn't send them to me.. He claimed they were valued at 2,500.00 and people sell them to make money off them.. What fake vouchers? I mean really come on they could of just sent some kind of form they didn't to send those right away, sense I had a year to use them right?

Its very surprising that people today are coming up with new and unique ideas to scams others. It was very good of your husband not to give that guy your credit card information. He had all the intentions to scam you over the phone by giving you the greed of Carribean cruise. You didn't won the cruise but won the battle against scam.
