Our tenth anniversary yesterday...

I posted awhile back that I thought I deserved a new engagement ring for our anniversary since the one I had, I found out, was not only second hand but had been repaired previously (my husband said, perhaps she threw it across the room when they broke off the engagement!). I said the least he could do is have the diamonds reset in another ring. If you've been keeping track you'll know my husband had the ring repaired (I had been told that repairing it would not ensure it would not need repairing again at a later date) and gave it back to me a couple of weeks ago. At that time he also had both my wedding and engagement ring cleaned. Whoohoo! $30! Our 10th wedding anniversary was yesterday and I know some of you are waiting with baited breath to see what he gave me. I opened up the new ring box this morning to find a tiny gold ring with ten diamonds in it. Almost like an anniversary band but the diamonds do not go all the way around the ring as there are only ten - ten representing the number of years we've been married. Needless to say I was very surprised and very pleased. The ring is petite, which is to be expected as we are not exactly swimming in money right now. It also needs sizing as they are always too small on the display shelf. I'll take it in when the swelling in my fingers from the heat has gone down. LOL! I'd take a picture and post it but my digital camera is broken (thanks DD) but am going to go to the manufacturer today and see how much it will cost to repair, or purchase another one. Anyway, it is a very pretty ring and I am very happy with it. We're going out for dinner tonight.

Congrats! And kudos to hubby for doing the right thing...smart fella! I know what you mean about the swelling. I can't get my rings off ever because of the arthritis making it impossible. Perhaps I'll have them sized by cutting them off and then having gold added. Lots have changed with my hands in 9 years.

We took the ring in today and they told us that they probably will not re-size the ring but order another one in the right size. They don't like to cut the gold band if they can help it. All rings on display are size six. You may not see my other post but hubby did more than buy that ring. Tonight he gave me a heart-shaped diamond necklace. He must like me or something.

Nice to hear that your hubby came through! Can't wait to see the pic of the ring. My fingers are swollen too, and can only wear my wedding band. I only wear it when we are going somewhere. I stopped wearing it to work for fear of damaging it.

Yeah, he outdid himself this time with both a ring and a necklace... and flowers. Think I laid the guilt on a little heavy? LOL!

Congratulations on your tenth anniversary. That's a very sweet and thoughtful gift for your husband to give you. The ring sounds very pretty - you must post a picture of it when you get your camera fixed.

It's going to take me a month to get my camera back (maybe less) and will cost $140 to fix. They will be replacing the whole lens. Pretty disappointing but better than buying a new camera I guess. I'll post a picture of the ring and the necklace when I get my camera... though I could try and scan the necklace.

Congratulations on your 10th wedding anniversary Pat, Sorry this is late. I do hope you have a lovely dinner tonight. And what a surprise on the ring? WOW at least he repaired the other one, got them cleaned and bought you a new one. :) And didn't you just buy that digital camera recently? LOL I hope you are able to get it fixed.

Thanks! Well, hubby was full of surprises. At dinner tonight he had flowers waiting for us at the table at the restaurant. And then he gave me yet another gift. Now I think he has gone overboard because we are not rich. He bought me a heart-shaped diamond necklace (ten diamonds again). I was stunned. I guess he's trying to make up for going away for 10 days but this is just adding more of a financial burden. Oh well, it's not my burden to bear.

Congratulations on being Married 10 yrs. That in itself is something to Celebrate. The ring I am sure must have been a shcck for you as well. I am sure if I were you, I would be showing it off BIG time. You should be thankful for this, and treasure it. I do not wear my Wedding ring, and might have accidently lost it, which is pretty Sad sometimes. There are days I wish I knew where it was if it was still around the house so the friends I have that have asked to see it could see it. But my husband was not too upset either, which was nice.

Thanks! I tried to take a picture but you just can't see the diamonds because it is so small. Hopefully I can find a picture in a catalogue and scan it.

I'm glad for you. Happy anniversary and enjoy your dinner. (Too bad about the camera. You just got it, it shouldn't cost anything to repair or replace it.)

Damage to the camera was our fault. It is going to cost $140 to fix. They will be replacing the whole lens. :( Thanks for the anniversary wishes.
