My laptop is my everyday computer. At times I will download things to it that take a while to get done. At these times I go into the monitor settings and in the power saver button I will set it to go off in 5 minutes after no mouse or keyboard activity.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a way I could just blank out the monitor while I am downloading so I don't have to go in and change settings and then reset them when I am done.
I have a Dell XPS M140 ... I believe it is based on the Inspiron laptop, if that makes a difference.
Thanks in advanced for any help.

There should be an option that says, "when I close the lid..." If you select "do nothing," the monitor will turn off when you close the lid, but the computer will continue to work.

                            My first thought to that
"DUH ... I should have thought of that"
Thanks, I'll check to see where that option is. I have used the laptop long enough I should have known that.

No problem, brothertuck. Nobody catches everything. That's why they say, "Two heads are better than one." Salute!

or you could set a blank screensaver to appear after 5 minutes of being idle.
