Is it true that Yahoo stores cost up to $50 monthly?

I have been thinking about opening my own online shop for awhile. And, recently I have been shopping around for the best web hosting ecommerce packages. A friend of mine sugggested that I use a regular website with paypal as my payment processor.
I have thought about getting a ready-made Yahoo stores website. I've seen lots of those Yahoo stores lately and think it might serve my purposes nicely. However, I was talking to someone this morning and they mentioned that Yahoo stores cost $50 monthly. That price seems kind of high considering that there are so many other web hosting ecommerce options available online. Does anyone know if this is true?
And, if possible could you tell me which ecommerce package or web hosting service you use for your online shop or store? Thanks!

I use Yahoo but only standard. It's enough in my case. It's usually around $ 13 which is $ 12 US. If it;s true the store cost that much in yahoo, maybe it's better to use Ebay stores instead. I think I read that it costs $ 15/ month and all you have to do is fill out business registration form and product photo gallery with the information, but you can find out at Ebay to be sure.

That is good advice! When I first got online about three years ago, a friend was doing Ebay full time and she got a very nice income from it. Don't know why I didn't try it when she did. That sounds like a very sensible solution.

According to this your monthly charges are more based on how much you sell. I'd suggest looking into something else personally, as I never really trust anything like this. There are programs that you can buy that usually cost a 1 time payment... and it's a bit pricey but it's not monthly charges. There are websites you can get for a lot cheaper.
Personally I'd look elsewhere than yahoo. I like yahoo but I'd never give them my money.
