Recently, I was lucky to find "Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone" film in my library and I kinda watched the film three times now. The more I see it, the more it seems like Rupert Grint(Ron Weasly) has done his part most convincingly although it might have been the first film for him. And then Richard Harris is my dream Dumbledore. He has portrayed the famous Headmaster as anyone would have imagined him from JKR's narrative. Beautiful.... I think I prefer the previous movies to the later ones now. Maybe I will have to watch them all over again and again to be able to decide. What do you think?

The first Dumbledore was definitely perfect for the role... It's so sad he'll never be able to finish the role he started. As for the others, I definitely like Rupert Grint as Ron, and the Phelps twins as Fred and George are just perfect ^^. I really like McGonagall too. One thing that has always bugged me is Gary Oldman as Sirius... It's not that he isn't a wonderful actor or anything, and I see him as Sirius now, but I always pictured Sirius to be more... handsome. He's only described as being extremely handsome about a million times. I know he aged a lot in Azkaban but it still doesn't seem like he was ever ridiculously handsome with Oldman playing him. Also, the facial hair, I wish it would go.

hahaha... that was a nice comment Ishida. I too have always wondered why so many people like Gary Oldman as Sirius Black. He looks more like Aragorn(LOTR) if you know who I mean. They are good looking, but not as you say extremely handsome. I haven't seen other movies of Gary Oldman, so I thought maybe he looked terrific in them and that's why so many like him in that role.

See I thought Gary Oldman in The Order of the Phoenix was extremely handsome ;) In Prisoner of Azkaban (& in general) he's not all that attractive of a guy, but that fit that with escaping Azkaban. Once he's cleaned up for Order, and with the long hair I think he's really attractive.

yeah, the previous movies were really great... i don't like harry 5 movie that much, comparing it to the book was like just half of the story and the characters were not so emphasized as they should have been, emphasizing them is really important in the upcoming movies to come

That's what I realised too. I haven't had the opportunity of observing the earlier movies closely, so, when I actually did, I thought it was awesome the way they had brought out the characters superbly. I surely doubt they could do that kinda thing with a book spanning about 900 pages and a little above the 2 hour time limit. As you say, the latest instalment is not that good at all.

hhmmm.. i like rupert playing ron.. he is definitely how i imagined ron and also mcgonagall, and i agree the first dumbledore is much better.. and of course snape is as irritating as a character in the movies as he is in the books.. but i liked his character from the start because i somehow knew there was a story behind the hostility.. that is why my favorite part in buk 7 is chapter 33.. :)

Yeah, I do acknowledge Snape has a story too, but it does not validate how he treats students other that Slytherin very unfairly, leave alone Harry if he does not like him, what about the other students?

Alan Rickman is exactly how I pictured Snape, and I think he's an incredible actor in general. The actor who plays Hagrid also closely matches how I pictured the character. Oh and the actress who plays Mrs. Dursley; I always pictured her looking just like my step-mother. Sure enough when the movie came out, there was an actress who looked just like my step-mother only 10 years younger.

Alan Rickman is great in playing Professor Snape...the perfect actor for the perfect "villain" (for those who have read HP7, you might understand the double quotation marks). Anyway, he's so great in playing a villain, his acting as Snape is already natural. Perfect.... Rupert Grint also plays Ron Weasley best. I can't think of anyone better.

I agree... what about Richard Harris. I definitely don't prefer Michael Gambon for that meaty role. He could learn a lesson or two from Richard Harris for the role.
