Mix and match cookware!

My cookware mainly consists of various items from sets that I have owned over the years. My cooking and baking set is still very functional though. I like to think of my kitchen cookware as "the best of" collection. Sure nothing matches, but it all serves a very specific purpose. I guess I would like to get a new set of cookware some day. Maybe after I get another car, or get some new furniture. But, for now, this one will do very nicely!
So, how about you? Does your cookware match? Do you get rid of pans and pots that do not match when you buy a new cookware set? Do you think it's better to have a few good pans and pots that you use all the time for all types of dishes? Or, would you prefer to have an entire collection where each pan serves a unique purpose or function?

I only have 3 pots (3 different sizes), I large and small frying pan and a few cake tins. That is all we use and need LOL They seem to be holding out so far for a year now, lets see if they last another LOL They all match because we bought them at Linen and Things on sale as a set.

See that's the way I am too. I don't have hundreds of pots and pans, and I don't need them either. Once upon a time long ago, I thought that I did, but never used them, so now I have just what works for me and nothing more. Maybe sometime in the near future if I can find something affordable I will invest, but not until I am sure that I will actually be able to devote time in the kitchen to using all of them.

Its funny you should start this discussion today, I was just looking through my kitchen today, noticing all the different sets that my items come from. I have a couple plates and a pan that have country apple designs on them, two pans with hearts on them, a glass with heart, two glasses with the Smurfs on them, I have a few plates that are pink, and a couple orange bowls, and a green bowl. I have a yellow juice pitcher, and a blue and yellow kool aid pitcher. I have some silverware with red handles and some with no handles. But, I love it all!!!!

Then you are the person I started this discussion for! I guess I figured that I was the only one who loved their mix and match sets so much.
It's so amazing to think that the little things in our kitchens make everything seem more like home. I wouldn't trade my mismatched kitchen stuff (or anything else!) for all the fancy pots and pans or dishes in the world. Well, sure if they were free, I might consider it. But, not till then. LOL!
At one time I had all that stuff, but like so many other things all that broke or got messed up, so now nothing matches. I just never bothered devoting the money to replacements and yet i am doing very nicely. When I was younger, I would have whined and complained till the new pan fairy brought me an instant replacement. Since the kid arrived, I am much less whiny! I try to do the best with what I have.

We have a really nice set of stainless steel cookware. We've only been married for about two and a half years, though. So we haven't had time to ruin as much stuff as someone who has been married a lot longer. lol
We do also have a few random nonstick skillets. It's just too hard to make things like grilled cheese sandwiches in stainless steel skillets!
As for our bakeware, we have a nice set of pyrex that we got for a wedding gift. It has two 9x13, two 8x8, a pie plate, and two different sizes of bowels that all match it. Since we haven't broken anything, that's plenty for most of our baking needs. The only other things we have are cookie sheets and a pizza pan. They all look similar, so they match pretty well.
Now if we were to talk about dishes, that would be a whole different story!

I couldn't care less if our sets match or not. My husband is a bit anal about it though, and whenever we buy a new set of pots/pans, glasses, plates, silverware, etc., we give away the old set and only use the matching stuff.
