For those of you who read the last book of Harry Potter, can you please help me out with this. I am still trying to figure out why draco had the elder wand. I've been reading that part again and again but i still don't get it. When did draco win that wand? Thanks for your help.

draco didnt have the wand..only that he was the master of the wand. remember in the 6th book in the end draco expelliarmused dumbledore. thats when he became the master of the wand. but he didnt get that wand as he didnt take it. it was buried along with dumbledore in his tomb. so draco didnt have the wand even though he was the master

You have a good memory. Did you really remember or you researched right after you read the 7th book? I do not remember this detail anymore. All I remember was that Snape killed Dumbledore without any fight. I'm still confused with their wand rules. You mean to say that even if Draco wasn't using the elder wand, his wand will automatically be the elder wand because he beat its previous master? If draco was the master of the elder wand, did Harry have to beat draco with his wand to be the master of the wand of dumbledore? I'm sorry for all these confusing questions. I'm very confused with this as you can see. But thanks for all your help. I couldn't have solved this confusion without my mylot friends.

I've found various places with interviews from Rowling explaning this, even though the whole thing seems kind of random and questionable. Apparently, the wand was Draco's because he disarmed Dumbledore right before Snape killed him, therefore he 'beat' him so to speak. Had Draco picked up the wand at that point, he would have been able to use it to its full power. The way Rowling stated that out of nowhere in the book and expected everyone to make that connection without explaining it is kind of annoying, though...

Well, good for you, you took the time to listen to rowling's interviews. Yes, if we didn't get it first hand from her, i don't think we'll be able to figure out things for ourselves. Okay, let's say, draco beat dumbledore, would that make draco's wand the elder wand even if that wasn't the wand that was beaten? I don't remember much of what happened in book 6 but this is still confusing. They did say that the wand has to be passed on but the case of dumbledore was really different and there goes the confusion. Anyway, the book is done, we're just readers, we'll have to make do with whatever is given to us. LOL. But im glad that i have friends in mylot who can help me figure these things out. Thanks for your response.

Thanks for the response. I really couldn't remember what happened in book 6 except that Snape killed Dumbledore. I think I'm going to review book 6. I don't remember draco being in that scene at the tower or something. Thanks again.

From what I understand, it is because Snape killed Dumbledore for Draco, so since it was Draco's job, he got it. I assume that it worked like that since Snape made the Unbreakable Vow in Half Blood Prince. That's as much as I can understand.

But didn't Snape kill Dumbledore because Dumbledore told him to do so? It is really confusing, isn't it? Well, thanks for helping me out of my confusion.
