When you make a deposit, do you always use the official bank envelope?

Until recently, I have been using my own envelope when mailing my checks to my online bank. And, last week I saw a spot on their site that suggested that they would send free bank deposit envelopes to me! Very convenient indeed, considering that the envelopes are postage paid. That means a free envelope and no cost to mail it either. I guess I wouldn't think it was a big deal to get a free envelope except for one tiny point. The place where I had been mailing my checks to the bank had changed, without my knowledge. I am not sure when the bank changed their deposit receipt address, but no one bothered to tell me about it. That was a big concern for me. Apparently, they still got my money, but I would hate to think that something like that could happen again in the future. Guess it's just best for me to stick to using their official envelopes, that way, my money will never get lost! Fingers crossed! So, how about you? Do you use your bank's official envelope or one of your own? Have you ever mailed your deposit check to the wrong location?

I've always just gone to my bank to deposit money. My husband's checks are automatically deposited in our account when he gets paid, so we only have to go to the bank to deposit my checks. And I just do it once a month and take all of my checks at once. Or I send them with my husband and he does it for me. One of the banks we use is on base, and my husband drives right by it everyday on his way to and from work. I just have him to deposit them or cash them there when I think we are going to be too busy to get to our main bank for a while. I've never even considered mailing a check in, since I've always just used a local bank. It seems easier that way to me. We still do a lot of online banking, it's just easier to have a bank that we can go to.

I don't ever mail my deposits to the bank. I had direct deposit so I didn't have to worry about it. We always took my wife's checks to the bank personally. That way we had an immediate receipt and knew the bank got it for sure. We only live about two miles from our bank, so it is not a big deal. We usually dropped it off on the way to somewhere else in town.
