What's the most credit cards you've ever had at one time? I've had as many as 13 at one time, and then i'd do a debt consolidation, and think I was going to cancel them all, but then somehow, I'd always talk myself in to keeping some of them, and end up getting more on top of that. I don't know what it is, that makes me think I need to have all this credit card debt, but it's so hard to get away from it. Do you have this problem, or cna you manage to say no, to all the preapproved offers that you get?

I have only one credit card, and one is all I have ever had. I never signed up through an offer in the mail though. I researched the companies on my own, then signed up online. Every credit card offer I get (I get a lot) I throw in the trash. I don't want to end up in debt when I have absolutely no money to get out of it. So I don't have any more credit cards because I don't want to tempt myself. : )

I had actually had all of my debt cleared before I got married the second time, through a debt consolidation program. And then the curse of the preapproved credit cards hit me BIG time! I think the most I have had at one time was something like 5 cards. And I'm still paying off the darned things, on top of my other bills that have snuck in on me. UGH!

I'm back up to 9 cards, again, after I just paid off 4 or 5, in my debt consolidation. Actually, I paid off more than that, but I kept some of them, and I've gotten more since. I'm afraid I'm gonna be in a mess if I don't quit. But since my husband doesn't like to work for long periods of time, I always end up using them for bills and stuff.

I throw them out- Although I racked up my own card- so now I’m looking to switch to no finance charges or lower charges- I did switch part of it already- I’m loving no interest- It’s easier to pay off this way- I used to have no credit card debt- so I’m working towards that again!

Oh No! That's disgraceful! That sort of thing should not be allowed. It's inviting people to get into debt and probably people who can ill afford it. I live fairly minimalistically. I have most everything I need, not all but I can do without. I have a little of what I want but it's not good enough I want more. But I have to think about it and decide on what I really want. Then I have to PLAN how I'm going to get it and I have to SAVE & NOT SPEND. I got my 3 credit cards when I didn't need them. I only use one basically, cos with an interest free period of 55 days, I can make that work for me. You have to be responsible about your money and be in control. It's YOUR money....don't be so quick to give it away.
