Stealing the thread

I have seen a couple of discussion threads where someone blatantly make a reference to a money making program they are running. They feel that they can just post the link into a discussion just because it's free, and 'no one complains'. The TOS says that you can't post a link like that. There are money making and money making online interests, use them for those who wish to see them. I usually ignore these people unless I am in a bad mood, and then I will give them a - rating, or even report them. What do you do when you see threads that people blatantly try to do their marketing here, like that?

I have confirmation back from mylot just the other day and they said that can NOT post a referral link into a discussion or response at all. But you can have your referral links on your profile page..So referral links should not even be within the making money interests..

I agree that you should report them but usually it depends on my mood. This is a community board and if the community speaks out by letting myLot know then it will stop. I also have noticed lately it is usually new people who do this, some who think that since this is a free board they can just do as they want. Most who have been around longer won't do it like that. My comment was more about those who take a thread, like one where someone was asking for and IT board, one her husband could use for computer work, and the person blatantly put in links to money making sites, and others who have totally twisted a thread to include their link.

Yes your right, thats so wrong.. The newbies also should have it fresh in their minds, but obviously not one of them reads the guidelines..

I should report them, but I usually will respond to them and tell them that they are spamming. Next time I will report them.

I report them every time. That is spam and it's junk. I also report those that start a discussion just to promote a refferal link cause that is against the rules as well.

It is against the guideline to post a referral link into a discussion or response...I am actually getting really annoyed by this because its happening all the time, Depending on my mood too, I will rate it neg or report it...I did it once many months ado and it got deleted and I got a warning, so why should everyone else get away with it...
