If any of you are like me and hate paying $1.00 each time I use the phone information 411 number? There is a free number and is it 1-800-FREE411 (this can also be used online) or 1-800-373-3411. There maybe some advertising on the call but it is only 12 seconds long and if that saves me a dollar then I'm OK with it. How about you?

Calling information now costs a dollar?! Good grief, did it go up from the last time I used it. I'm glad you pointed this site out. I was aware of it, but had never used it. I'm glad to know that it is legit. Thanks for spreading the helpful word.

Perhaps it's my 'Calvinistic Scottish Upbringing' but I hate paying for anything, especially the full price, so I check out ways of getting things cheaper or special offers, usually get cheaper holidays (buy 2 get one free), in the U.K. most companies now use higher rate charges either (0845 - local rate) or some other more expensive numbers where the payment is shared between the company and the telephone company, there are websites which give you ordinary numbers to phone.
Most things I buy is using a loyalty card which gives me points if I buy from certain stores or petrol stations, and if I buy from the internet I use MyPoints or I-points which give me points for buying as well.

Aha a man after my own heart (and upbringing). Have you heard the old joke about a Scotsman whose shirt collars got too tight and he did not want to buy knew ones so he had his tonsils removed on the NHS!! LOL

Hi there. Here in NZ, we pay something like 50 cents, to use the services of our 018 directory, to get phone numbers of people, that we may need and had forgotten... We dont use this service, because I refuse to pay 50 cents for someones ph number...

I think we pay about 40p for an information number , They ask if you want connected and that costs more , I think this is daylight robery as we are using BT anyway , we have to pay for everything now adays , then when we do get the number we are on hold with awful music for ages then press 1 or 2 then music then press 3 or 4 grrrrrr xx

LOL, I just use the yellowpages.com and look it up for myself. My mother on the other hand has a phone book setting right by the phone and STILL uses information. I will just have to give her this number and see if that helps, but she is so lazy will most likly stick with informatin because it's less numbers to dial..*sigh*
