Where can I locate environmentally friendly laundry detergent?

Recently, I was bragging about some of my new environmentally friendly attitudes, when one of my online friends pointed out that I still use traditional laundry detergents and drain cleaner. And, I guess she has a point. How can I say that I am really concerned about the environment if I am still contributing to the problem!
Does anyone know where I can find environmentally "earth" friendly laundry detergents, drain cleaners, fabric softener, dish detergents, etc. Any suggestions or links that you might have on this subject would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Someone on my local parenting site actually just posted a recipe to homemade laundry detergent and dryer sheets. This may sound like a lot of work and that may be why I haven't tried it yet. But if you would like the recipe to try just let me know.

You can go right to Target and get environmentally safe products there for very good prices. They have a section in their cleaning supplied aisle with a brand called Method and I also buy Arm & Hammer Essentials laundry detergent which is made from plant based soap. You might be able to get that in other stores as well.

Places like Target or KMart should have what you are looking for.

I noticed the other day that Target had a bunch of "earth friendly" cleaning supplies. We're thinking about switching to some of them, but haven't yet because of the price. Some of the ones they have at Target are really reasonably priced, though. So we are thinking that when we start getting low on what we already have, we will probably start trying some of the other stuff.

mix together use 1 tablespoon per wash make sure u dilute it before you put it in your washing machine.
fabric softner put white vinegar in your rinse cavity this softens the clothes also vinegar is great at stopping the lint forming. this will help the enviroment as well as save u money.

Hi Beautyqueen,
I am also a Melaleuca customer. I love their products that are all non-toxic. Even if you use something that you don't see online, like mosquito repellant, you can make your own with about three of the products. There are so many options.
I tried these products because of our boys. They get into everything and our storage in the house is not ideal for anything toxic. So now I don't have to worry about them getting into anything. If they do the worst that will happen is they won't feel well for a while. So much better than going to the ER.
The great thing with Melaleuca is you can try it out for four months and within that time if you cancel, you get your membership fee refunded. So you really don't loose anything. You just tried shopping at another store.
I hope you find some products that work for you.
