As I write this I don't know if Bonds has broken the home run record or not. However, when he tied the record, only his son greeted him at home plate - I don't think the game was stopped, and I read that the commissioner didn't even applaud. I know he's not the most popular player among baseball fans as a whole, and perhaps not of a favorite of his fellow players. I know there is controversy over him breaking the record due to his alleged use of steroids. It just seems kind of odd that the moment wasn't commemorated, and if it was (I only saw the news clips), wasn't commemorated much. Now, if there was a message involved, would it be because he isn't liked by his fellow players, or do the players themselves feel the record is not legitimate? Or is it because he's not a popular figure that more people are prone to dismiss hom breaking the record?
