(bangs head on the wall in severe frustration) This annoyance is starting to rise my blood pressure higher... For months, when I start up the computer and login to my account at home, I always press Ctrl+E to activate Windows Explorer so that I could see my files and use them, store them, and then delete them. Currently i'm trying to store most of my files to DVD+RW because my computer is starting to become full. Mind you that the OS i'm using is Windows XP Home Edition. Lately, when I pressed Ctrl+Alt+Delete for Windows Task Manager, and then Ctrl+E to start up Explorer, the friggin' thing slows down, and in the Task Manager, I see the message: "CPU Usage: 100%". I thought, "what the Hell?" I tried everything to stop this from happening, and I even used System Restore SEVERAL times, like in 3 days when this happens. I even had it restored on Sunday and it's wonky in 2 days. Add to the fact that my little health-sucking leech of a sister is frequently on it almost all day and night and I can't store my files as long as I used to, my computer's getting worse and worse. Long story short, every time I activate Windows Explorer, I get computer slowdowns, it's almost becoming unresponsive, and it says "CPU Usage: 100%". This kind of annoyance is stressing me out big time and I have a lot of files needed to be stored in my DVD+RW discs. I've ran "Disk Cleaner" (a program that cleans out the computer to make it run faster except for the My Documents folder) and "Diskeeper" (a very good disk defragmentation program) on occasion, but it's still not enough. Is there a way to put an end to this virtual nuisance once and for all??

For starter... stop using third party programs like "Diskeeper". Windows XP has the tools for Windows XP. Use them. Disk clean up and Disk Defragmenter. If your hard disk is full... Windows does not have any room on the hard disk to store its expanded memory. That is why you run out of memory. You should keep at least 30 per cent of your hard disk free for Windows to do its work. One of the biggest killer is spyware. You need to download the free program "Spybot"... install it and run it to remove all spyware from your computer. Once you have done all of the above... your computer should be as good as new.

I feel your pain! Fortunately, yes. There is an answer to your problem. It's called Process Lasso, and it's free. When a narcissistic process thinks it needs 100% of your CPU's cycles all to itself (usually to perform a small, minute little task), Process Lasso automatically lowers the priority, allowing you to continue using your computer.
