Do you still like to write with fountain pens which are filled with ink. I have to admit that though today most of the time we are using ball pens or better pilot pens, the beauty of ink pens was something that could not be forgotten. Some fountain pens really wrote very good handwriting. Do you miss your fountain pen.

I do miss writing with them... Infact I have treasured some of the best fountain pens with which I wrote in the past, but I don't like writing with them any more.. Ball pens and pilot pens are much more convenient, but fountain pens do had their share of highs during their time...

I really miss them apsara.I was writing with fountain pens and ink pens in my school days. They were nice. You know i had a big ink bottle with piller.Everyday before i go to school i was cheking my ink pen and filling it with ink. After joing college, i had busy study hours and i started using ball point pens for faster writing. Now i use often gel pens .You just reminded my schooldays.anyways smiles....

I love fountain pens and I still use them at my office. Two pens one with black ink for signature and green ink for underlining some important points are being used. I also use parker ink and hence I have no problem in using them. Only at the time of filling ink, there could be spilling of a drop or two.

Yes, I do miss the old fountain pens, now these pens have been replaced by gel pens and ball point pens. I used to enjoy, while writing with ink pens. Good post indeed! Incidently, our children are now aware how were these ink pens...and who one used to feel, when writing with these pens.

Yes I agree with you, fountain pens do bring out good handwritings. I think you may find them in some shops, but may be very costly. I am sure they are still avaiable in market.

Hi Apsara Well I don't miss fountain pens .. though I can understand that you missed your fountain pens days a lot .. I never had good experience with the fountain pens .. I got the drops of the ink on my shirt when I was with my friend and we were playing and I used to be a very neat and clean girl and I simply hated that bad spot .. from that day I started hating that fountain pen. I really like pilot pens .. My writing looks more good with pilot pens rather than ink pens .. Infact the duration of fountain pens with me was only -- 2 weeks not more than this. There was hardly any fountain pen which survived more than this duration.

Dear tweety sweety, Yes I agree with all that you have written , yes fountain pens did make a lot of mess, but still some how they remind you of your school days and that is why I like to think about them, I am sure nobody now wants to fall into that mess. But memories are memories and we cannot run from them. Thanks for your reply.

Yes I do.My hand writing is not as good as it was when I was using my fountain pen.I still have a waterman for signing. It doesn't matter because we do not write much like before which is another sad thing.

I love fountain pens, except for when they spill and I get ink all over my fingers. I did love the way the script came out all so beautiful, but I never had much success with them not smearing. When the cartridge fountain pens came out, I could never insert them properly and although the writing was wonderful I was glad that the ballpoints came out. However unless you had a Bic, they skipped. But when the pilot pens and the roller pens came out, they were like the fountain pens and I could turn them just right. So at least there is a compromise, my writing can look like fountain pen writing and I do not get ink stains on my fingers.

Parker Snake - Parker snake limited edition, gold or silver!
Hi Sara, No, I don't miss fountain pens, cuz i use them everyday! I just love the complexity about them, the way they have to be taken care of. The more care u give them, the better performance u get. Not as stupid and random as ball pens. meh fountain pens are like women. complex and beautiful! I have like too many fountain pens in my drawer. PARKER are the best pen makers! Thank you for such a thoughtful discussion.

Yes, I still write with fountain pens. In fact, I collect them. It is hard for me to write with anything else. I like to fill them with all kinds of colors. I like trying different points, from fine to double broad (BB). I like the old fashioned way of writing. That kind of penmanship was taught in school in earlier times. It is too bad they still don't teach that. The script writing is very beautiful. Nobody these days takes time for anything. We are always in a hurry. May be if we hurry too fast, our lives will be over too quickly and we will not have enjoyed life. I think a lot of the old fashioned things were better for our environment too. Now we have all these empty disposable pens cluttering up the trash sites. With fountain pens, no need to worry, just fill from a bottle. The bottled ink lasts a long time and comes in a lot of pretty colors. Now the empty ink bottles are worth saving as a lot of people collect these too!
