My daughter recently decided that she no longer wants to go to bed easily so i decided to try the whole controlled crying thing, oh that first night was torture, I was sitting on the couch and my partner would say, dont you get up, everytime I tried to get up and go to her! But 3 nights later and I put her into her cot, walked out, went back 5 minutes later as I hadnt heard a sound and she was asleep! It actually works! Has anyone else ever tried this? I am interested to know how long it took others to get their child to sleep... I am amazed at how well it worked!

We had to do that when my son was about 7 months old and suddenly decided that the only way he will go to sleep is if I hold him and rock him to sleep. Yes, the first night was torture! He woke up at least 4 times and cried for at least 10 mins each time. The crying got less and less each night and by the end of the week, he was sleeping through the night once again. He's 2 now and does awesome with sleeping on his own. All I have to do is just tell him it's bedtime and he walks to his room and waits for me to tuck him in. No fuss, no stalling, no whining, etc. I'm so glad I used this method for him when he was younger. I realise that it may not work for every child..but it sure did for him!

Yes I 've done that with my eldest when he was 9 months old, I don't remember how long it took each night but It took about two weeks to finaly make him want to sleep own his own in his own room. I have to say that it was not easy at all but it worked, until now my son only come to our bed when he is ill but we can always bring him back to his room when he fast asleep...xx
