hello everyone. I am considering leaving the US for a short period of time to find work in Romania. Has anyone done this before? What steps did you take? Did it work out? I have three young children. One can possibly stay stateside. By profession, I am in marketing (web, graphic design and marketing for architectural and engineering companies), my husband is a blaster (rocks) by trade but can do construction and excavating. I do have family living there now and my husband can understand a bit of the language.

Just a question.. Why would you leave U.S. to find work in Romania? I mean.. From what I know, you can earn lots of money in U.S if you really work hard.. Not just by working alone but engaging into different online businesses. Your from U.S, you can really earn thousands of money by online income. I haven't really done that before but I just think that.. we, Filipinos even work so hard {really hard) just to get a U.S visa so that we can work in your country. I just wish you all the best in life and your family. :)

I know, sounds stupid huh... But, you have to understand. We live here in the US. Right now, I have three children, no health insurance. Our car was just taken away. Our house might be taken away by the bank. My husband works in construction and for the last three days there has been no work because of all the rainy weather. I have been looking for a job for over 3 months. I send out at least 2 resumes a day to employers. I go on nearly one interview a week. Because we have 3 children daycare is very expensive. For the three children it will cost almost $400 a week. A WEEK. So I would have to make enough money to pay for daycare and then have money left over for bills. We have to spend almost $200 a week in groceries. And I cook all of our meals! It costs almost $125 in gas just for my husband to get to work. YOu can see how this all adds up. Now add the phone $125, the TV $85, cooking gas $100, Electricity $100, Car ins. $125, mortgage, car payments, and bills. We have to make over $4000 a month just to 'break even'. The highest paying jobs around where we live pay around $300 a week after taxes. Now you can see how difficult it is to make ends meet when you own a home and have children and have to drive over 3 hours to work a day. It's not easy. It's very out of balance. I am trying to finish my degree to earn my teaching certificate. Then, at least I can have the same schedule as my older child and only put two kids in daycare. The cost of living is very very expensive and doesn't balance what you bring in. We have done research regarding moving to different areas of the US, but, we would be very far from our families. At least, in Romania, where my family is from, we would have free childcare and more balance in our life. We are doing our best. As for the internet. There are no 'honest' get rich quick schemes. My husband and I are good people and we do not have it in us to 'rip' other people off or 'scam' them just so we can have a better life. I have tried to find work like telecommuting, but, again, w/ three children it's impossible to take care of them while I work 8 to 10 hours at home. My youngest is still only 6 mos. old and is nursing constantly (don't even talk about formula - too expensive!) I know it's long, but, just because we live in the US doesn't mean we have every opportunity in the world. We have the freedom to be very very poor here. There millions of homeless, starving, and sick people here too. Not because they are stupid, but, because they weren't born to a rich family or able to make a 'life for themselves'.
