Does anyone know this for sure? When my girlfriend got her insurance at work She said she put me as her beneficiary on the life insurance. I have had a few jobs in my lifetime and filled out some insurance forms. I always had to have the beneficiay's date of birth and S.S number. She knows my date of birth but I knew she didn't know my s.s. number. When I asked her didn't they ask for that information she said no. All they asked for was our address. Again, does anyone know for sure if that's even possible? Has anyone been able to do that. I have always trusted her but she does have kids which she puts way before me. And yes, I have her as my beneficiary in case something happens to me.

Honestly, at my place of employment they did not ask for the ssn's of my beneficiaries. I was kind of suprised. They just asked for their names, and relationship. Maybe she is telling the truth.

Easily resolved - yes I think it's possible depending on the carrier HOWEVER; a SURE way to know is be equally as friendly and simply ask her for a copy so that you know the Insurance Company, phone # and all the facts in the untimely event something would happen to her. This way, SHE thinks you are attempting to obtain what you will not want to even discuss should something happen to her. You can put it in a way where she should be more than willing to do so IF it is as she states. If not, then you need to be more inquisitive and skeptical of the gesture; explain to her how "business" isn't proper to be discussed at a time like that and taking care of it NOW is more respectable and appropriate.

I dont know. I have always had to use a social security number for a beneficiary. It could be possible that she didnt need it but I would think it is highly unlikely. I would think that they would need your social for tax purposes.
