Most states have a click it or ticket law now for 0% tolerance on you or your passengers not wearing seat belts. What is your opinion on this law? Seat belts have been known to save many lives. But on the other hand Seat Belts have also been known to have killed people. What do you think?

I also feel that people should be given more choice in their decisions but would hope that most people would still have enough common sense to wear their seat belts. I know there are rare occasions when a person was killed because they were restrained or escaped serious injury because they weren't restrained but there are also rare occasions when people are killed by bricks falling on sidewalks and we still walk on them.
One other issue I have with this that many people don't realize is how dangerous an unrestrained passenger can be. If you buckle up but then your passenger doesn't and you get in an accident that passenger can easily come out of their seat and slam into you. That's why I tell everyone that rides with me or that I ride with that I don't care if they don't want to buckle up when they're on their own, if they want to risk it that's their choice, but if I'm in the vehicle they need to be buckled because I don't want to risk having them bouncing around in the car and hurting me if we wreck.

The percentages are definitely with wearing the seat belt. It greatly increases your chances of survival as well as reducing injury in most cases. I hate that the government has to legislate such things since I am a firm believer in the less government the better. But, it seems that some people are just too stupid or careless or lazy or something to do what is best for them and their childs and friends and have everoyone in their vehicle wear a seat belt.

It is a no brainer...wear seat belts. I am an EMT and your chances are way better of surviving an accident wearing a seat belt then being killed by a seat belt.
This is one time where the government is right...wear your seat belts!
