Acts Of Kindness From Strangers ...

A couple of days ago, my 16 year old daughter was waiting at the bus stop. She was on her way to work, and realized that the bus was way overdue. As it turned out, it was a statuatory holiday here, and it'd never occurred to us that there may not be any buses running, which there weren't. A lady pulled into her driveway, near the bus stop, and my daughter asked her the time, and if she knew if the buses were running. By this time my daughter had remembered the holiday. This lady could see that she was on her way to work, as she was wearing her uniform. She told my daughter that she'd drive her there, if she could wait a couple of minutes for her to go into the house, and get something for her little girl. She had her 4 year old daughter with her. She drove my 'very grateful daughter' all of the way to her workplace, using her time, and gasoline to do so. My daughter thanked her many times, and she answered with something like, "There are times when it just feels good, to do something nice for someone." Have you ever had a stranger do something nice like this for you, or someone you know? Are you the type of person who does this type of thing? Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Ross got his laptop a year ago , he wasn't to well at the time and he just could not concentrate enought o get it on wireless , he was getting really annoyed with himself , he phoned a friend of ours to ask advice , my friend said to wait a minute and put down the phone , He was at my door in his car in 10 minutes , they had it up and running no time at all , I have elderly neighbours and I often give them a lift when I go out , they are both almost 90 , they are lovely and it only takes me 5 mins out of my way , I do this with a lot of my neighbours , I think it is nice to be kind , It gives me a nice feeling inside , Hubby says I have a place reserved in heaven , I just think as I said it is nice to be nice , xxx

thanks pal , I honestly think the person who does things like this gets just as nice a feeling doing it as the ones do that it is done for ( if you know what I mean ) , Ialways say it costs nothing to be kind , And you can make someones day by just doing so xxxx

You're so right, weemam. It made my daughter's day, when that kind lady drove her to work.:)

Hi weemam, I'm so glad that someone took the time to do that for your son. Things like this always make my day. I can tell from the time I've gotten to know you on here, that you're a very warm, caring person. It is a good feeling to be kind, and one that I wish would catch on a whole lot more. Thanks for sharing.

I have to admit that I'd be leary getting into a car with a stranger even if it was a lady with a child. Anyway, the nicest thing a stranger has ever done for me is when I was 30 years old I was coming around a slight corner in my car and somehow lost control and hit a tree head-on and flipped my car over so that the driver's door was practically embedded in the street pavement. Before I realized what was happening two buys pulled me up and out of the car from the passenger door which was facing upwards. Total strangers, never saw them again, I even think they split before the cops came. Meanwhile I was bleeding everywhere and they weren't worried about HIV or Hepatitis - they saved my life....total strangers!!

I know everyone has to be careful these days, but my daughter was so grateful, and so she went with her instincts. I still (choose) to believe that there are some good people around (strangers, as well), and that the bad ones are still in the minority. That's a wonderful thing that those boys did for you, and another example of the overall goodness of people. Thanks for your response.

Hello Someonesmom, Thanks for sharing this story. I could not begin to count the number of times that complete strangers have gone out of their way to be kind to me. Nor could I count the number of times I have passed it forward. I've always referred to it as following the 'rules of the road'. If my intuition does not raise a red-flag of alarm, then this is a wonderful way to contribute to the overall sense of the goodness of the human race. And yes, that is a word of caution -- WE SHOULD ALWAYS LISTEN TO THAT LITTLE INNER VOICE! If it doesn't feel right or safe, then ALWAYS walk away. Gotta' love the warm & fuzzy stories. Thanks again for taking the time to recount it here.

Hi ladyluna, You're very welcome, and I'm glad to be able to share this here. As I mentioned to a previous respondant, I feel it's important to go with our instincts, unless like you've stated, a red-flag is raised. I also believe in the overall goodness of people. Thanks for your response.

That was so sweet! I would like to think that I would have done the same - someone told me about an attitude of paying it forward! Do something good for other people as you never know when you will need someone to do something for you! I have had so many things done for me I couldn't even begin to list them! Hugs xxx

That's a good attitude to have, mummymo, whether you think of it as 'paying it forward, or doing unto others.' I'm like you, in that I've had so many good things done, that they're too numerous to list. Thanks for sharing.:)

Very nice story and i am happy your daughter met someone so generous and nice. I like to do such thing sometime but if i am really in hurry may be its hard to do this. But if I can afford it i prefer to help people first. It is hard to find people like this in this modern busy world these days

I'm happy that she met someone like this too, cmsk2005. I like to help people when I can too, and it's great to see that there are still people like this around. Thanks for your response.

I would love to do this for people! THe trouble is that these days, you could try to do a nice deed like that and end up in a river! There are too many people out there that use other peoples kindness as a way to kidnap...etc. I think that sometimes it is easier to do kind things to neighbors and people that are close to you so that there is no chance of this happening. I would never have let my child get in the car with a strange...nice deed or not, the world is to scary these days!

I agree that people do have to be extra careful these days, torri77, but in the case of my daughter, I'm sure this lady knew it was safe. My daughter's 16, and was there at the bus stop in her Wendy's uniform. Having said this, it's a nice thing to do good deeds for those we know, as well. Although it's a scary world, I wasn't able to be there with my daughter, and have done my best to teach her to go with her instincts, which, in this case, were good. Thanks for your response, and welcome to myLot.

Thank God for angels on earth such as these! We had an incident happen to us recently. One of the tires on our vehicle needed to be changed and we took it to a tire shop. The owner was really nice. He decided to change the tire for us for FREE cos' he knows we can't really afford to pay for it except to put it on our credit card. He didn't need to do that but he just felt like doing a good deed that day. I'm glad he chose us! :)

I agree that there are angels here on earth, Married2aMarine. That was so nice of that shop owner to do this for you. He sounds like the same type of person, my daughter met, as she said she just felt like doing something nice too. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for sharing this. It is great to see that there is still kindness in the world. I too have been picked up at bus stops a couple times and one time when I was with my son and laden down with bags and the stroller. Also at that time (with my son) I had spent our last money and did not know what I was going to do next...The person also gave me money as well as bringing me home. Another time our car broke down in a parking lot and I had to get to work so a stranger offered to take me to work and drove me straight there from the next city over. I actually have a lot of stories like this:)

It's wonderful that you've experienced this so many times, heavenschild. What a thoughtful thing for a stranger to do, to drive you to work like that. These types of things, help to restore my faith in human nature. When I look around, all of the bad things can be quite discouraging. Thanks so much, for sharing this.:)
