Insect Cruelty

You hear about animal cruelty all the time, and if you live in the U.S.A. you have probably heard about Micheal Vicks dog fighting. Like many people I think animal cruelty is wrong, do you think it is cruel to kill instects? Like this one Kung Fu movie I saw where they had these crickets fighting eachother and all these chinese guys were watching, rooting on their cricket and gambling on them. Do you find something like that cruel? Do you have any trouble killing those annoying ants, mosquitoes, cockroaches, termites? (I think those are all insects lol)

Being terrified of all creepy crawlies-as I am, dsantacruz, I have no problem stomping, smashing, or using any other method of getting rid of these pesky creatures. Spiders are the worst. When I lived in Tennessee we had such huge spiders that would crawl into the house. Each night I would take a supply of shoes to bed with me so that every time I saw one I could throw a shoe at it, lol.

Haha where I live there are no BIG spiders so I don't have to throw any shoes. But I am not too fond of even the small ones so they often meet the bottom of my shoe. Thanks for the response worldwise.

If you let spiders live and spin their webs or let them hunt you will have less flies and mozzies in your house. Spiders eat them. Termites and army ants are bad news. Termites eat wood so can eat your house timbers. They have to be deterred from entering your house. To remove an insect without hurting it:- place a glass over it and slip a piece of card between the glass and the wall. Hold the card over the glass and take outside. Remove the card and let the insect free. I let creatures live if they are not doing me harm.

But mummy spiders think their babies look beautiful! haha Mind you, spiders eat their husbands so perhaps I shouldn't love them too much, haha

Yes spiders are helpful of cleaning up other bugs, but they are so ugly! I have been bitten several times by them and like killing them too. Thanks for sharing the insect-in-the-glass tip smacksman.

Well, they ARE insects! And some people even eat them! Not me, man. That totally grosses me out! In regards to killing them, I'm certainly not going to go out of my way to kill anything, even an insect. If it's in my house though, most definitely. A lot of us sleep with our mouths open. *gag*

I have never eaten bugs in my life! Actually now that i think about it, I ate a slug when I was really little, no it wasn't cooked or anything, straight off of a tree. I don't rememeber but according to my Dad that is what happened. I would hate to swallow another one in my sleep! haha thanks for sharng rawpoet.

I must say I have no trouble killing cockroaches or mosquitoes. If I see a spider I will try to get it to walk on a piece of paper and then put it outside. LOL I know its crazy. I also hate the ants that bite. I have never come across a termite thou.

Yea they are definitely the easiest to kill, no guilt. But I don't like spiders either even if they do eat other annoying bugs. So I often kill them.

I never kill bugs! I would never kill any other animal so I don't know why killing a bug would be okay. My friends always swat flies and mosquitos around me, or crush spiders, but no matter how annoyed I get, I always make sure to catch them and throw them outside. I can't bring myself to suck up cobwebs with the vacuum either. I think about how hard that spider must have worked on it, so I leave them alone unless I can't find a spider around. I'll only suck up the abandoned ones.

So if you see webs you look for the spider that made it? I think all Cob Webs are abadndoned because spiders would not let them get in such poor shape. Thanks for sharing candid_Ishida.

Let's hope that insect cruelty doesn't become enforced by law !! haha. I will tolerate most insects outside, but not in the house. Especially Spiders and cockroaches! However I know that all insects serve in the foodchain.

I would kill only those that annoy me. Mosquitoes are the ones that should be killed. Cockroaches too. I hardly kill ants unless there are too many of them. If it's only a couple of them, I'll let them go.

I have no problem killing insects. They were only put on the Earth as an annoyance. They have no value except to eat our plants, and bite us! I think that if someone was to have a pet cockroach or something, I wouldn't kill that one, but I would kill his friends!
