is it risky to put your own pic on places like mylot or orkut?

well i heard that some idiots misuse your pics which we put on either here on mylot or other places like hi5 or orkut, so i think better not to put our pics just like that, but only send our pics when someone whom we know asks for your pic, only then, otherwise not.
what's your opinion regarding this?

I had my pic on mylot but then i removed it thinking the same. But I still have it on orkut. I certainly hope no one misuses it though i have heard of such stories. Some people are really sick to be doing this to strangers but there are all kinds of people out there.
