Why buy a swimming pool?

I was wondering if you might be able to help me with something that for the life of me I cant understand. Why would you have an in~ground pool put it then not swim in it? My neighbors have a pool and if they get in it 3 times a week that is a lot for them. When I was in 6th grade my parents got a pool and I lived in the thing. So why would someone go to all that trouble for something that they do not even use? I just dont get it can you help me understand?

If I had a pool I'd be in it ALL the time. I love swimming and it's so hot here that it would feel so good. I would love to have one. But maybe that's just all the time they have to use it. Three times a week seems OK to me although I'm sure if I had one I'd use it every day. Several times a day LOL.

maybe they aren't swimming in it that much because they are always working to pay for it! You never know, though I do agree that somepeople just get things to say they have them. My mother finally had a pool put in after we were all basically grown up and out of her house, and we all have pool access else where, but still really prefer to go to hers and use it, though you hardly ever see her in it because she is always at work or running about town for this and that. Maybe they haven't had the time to get in it yet!

Some people just get things so they can say that they have them. I sure know if I had one someone would be swimming in it. My kids would even try and talk me into letting the go in it when it was winter, but of course that would never happen.

thats crazy...i know some people that have an inground/heated pool and it costs them about $1,000 a month to keep it running, with that cost, i would make SURE that i used it daily! plus with it being so hot lately, why would i not be in it?
