in modern days, it is suggested to eat in instalments rather than having a heavy meal or sumptuous dinner. What is your opinion?

In olden days, people used to tell us to eat to the heart's content. Now the modern doctors suggest that one should eat in small quantities at frequent intervals rather than uploading at once or twice a day.

Well, it depends on time involved I am sure, and what you choose to eat each time that you eat something. What is best if you do it this way, is make sure the items that you are choosing to eat in smaller quantities, are items that are good for you like Fruits and Vegatables, a Salad, nuts, etc. These in turn are Low calorie, etc. and will actually help your body better in the long run as well.

I can see the six small meals a day might work good for losing weight rather than three large meals as you wouldn't be eating the types of food one normally eats for in between meals, so six small healthy meals would stop that.

I don't think that eating between meals is harmful. Instead I think that it is helpful. Why? If the stomach feels hungry, it is better to eat something so as not to make the stomach produce lots of acid otherwise it will ruin the stomach. This is a good way to protect the stomach. Of course it is no good to overeat which lets the stomach overburden too much from the food in getting the food digested.

That is fine. But if one is working in office, every one or two hours, if one goes out to eat, then the boss will tell us to join a restaurant. Thanks for your response. Have a delightful day.

Hei Lishiwei, Thanks for enquiring about me. How do you do. Regarding eating inbetween, it is good, as long as total intake does not exceed. Gone are the days when we use to tell our guests to eat heartily or eat to heart's content. Now it is always better to eat small quantity at intervels, so that the stomach is not left empty. The Ulcer specialists say that WHEN YOU DO NOT EAT, YOUR STOMACH WILL EAT YOU - meaning to say it will be eaten up by ulcer. Also so many complications like acidity or headaches creep in when the stomach is empty.

I guess eating from time to time is not also good..Its better to have breakfast and sumptuous lunch and less dinner since its night time and less activity to be done!

Eating a small, healthful snack between meals will help keep your blood sugar at an even keel and keep your metabolism going strong. You'll also avoid getting too hungry so you don't over-eat at your next meal. I eat some yoghurt or some cookies (sometimes with chocolate, sometimes without). In the evening I eat a piece of fruit: apple, kiwi, banana...
