The bible says that " The love of money is the root of all evil" (timothy 6:10). This is emmediately brings to mind that money is not the problem. It is the personal perception that cause of the problem. People perceive money in many different ways such as some people are big spender. MOney flows freely to and from their hand without regard to the actual of money they are spending. Some people are what we called frugal. These people spend when necessary and try to be practical on how they would use the money. Finally, there's what we called tightwad. These are the people who are afraid to spend because if they do spend they have the sensation that they will be without money in the future and thus they do not dare spend even a penny unless it is absolutely necessary.

I personally don't think that money is the source of all evil because everybody needs money to survive, no money, no food on the table. Money is not the problem, its what you do with the money that is the issue. You have people who are greedy and want to take and take while you have very wealthy people that are very generous. Money is only an material object. It has no sense of life therefore how can it be a soure of "evil". Instead of people taking personal responsibility, they channel it into blaming other things and people for their misfortunes and mis-directed views and idealisms. Money is not evil its just and object, although some people are evil because they have concious thought processes.

I don't think it is the money that is the root of all evil. It think it is how people decide to use their money that can be evil. Some people use it for the tool that it is. They respect it. They work hard for it. They buy the necessities and if they can afford to they buy themselves some things to bring themselves enjoyment. Some people covet money. Some people will go to any extreme to get money. They will hurt others to get it. They will use the money they have to flaunt their success or their wealth in order to make others feel bad. They will use their money and the power that comes with it to take advantage of those who have less. Maybe it says it in the bible...If thats the case, then I don't agree with what the bible says. Money isn't "the source" of all evil. Money is a "tool" that some evil people use. Money can also be used to help people. It isn't the object of money that is good or bad, it is the user of money that is good or bad.

The Bible does say its the "love of money". Money itself isn't because it can be used for good things..tithing, helping the poor, funding education and health research. This is a good topic.

I tend to agree. Money is just an object, a currency for trade. It is the person's attitude towards money that can be good or bad. Financial ignorance is largely to blame. For example, if a government official wants to get rich but doesn't know how to invest, he will resort to graft and corruption. He feels the evil act is necessary to achieve his goal, when the truth is, it's not necessary. There are legal, moral ways to get rich. He just didn't take the time or effort to learn those legal ways.

I think you found yourself an excellent topic for your thesis. I think what you have started here will make for an interesting paper. What IS money anyway? I mean, in a philosophical sense. Is it power? Is it making do? Is it survival? Stick with the Bible verse you quoted (Timothy 6:10) and go on from there. I'd like to read it when you are done. Good luck!

Actually money is really a problem now a days especially to those people who do not have proper income or stable job to support themselves. It is also the reason of having a problem when it comes to money when people do a non stop spending their money even it is no longer important. Money is the second important in life because if we don't earn we cannot support our family needs and send the children in school and give the best with them.
