Does anyone have an Olde English Bulldog not the English or American bulldog?

I'm talking the Olde English Bulldog not the traditional or american bulldog. The Olde English Bulldog is a much healthier version of the english bulldog. The breed emerged from the breeding of bulldog, bullmastiff, pitbull and american bulldog together and finally the olde english bulldog breed true. In any event, we thought we were getting the original bulldog, short, stocky, lazy, pushed in, wrinkly face, not realizing when the breeder kept saying olde english bulldog we just assumed bulldog is bulldog. Now we are faced with an active, soon to be 70-90 pound, 21 inches high dog that is aggressive. I mean we thought nice and lazy is perfect for us but she doesn't have the same demeanor as the english bulldog. She destroys anything and everything in her path. She's chewed up all the kids toys outside and ate the padding right off the trampoline. (Obviously we now put her on a dog run when she's in the yard) and just when I think she's actually getting better behaved - she'll destroy something when nobody is looking. She is way to aggressive with the kids. We used to have a boxer and she would stay in the yard with the kids and I knew they were safe. I'd never allow this dog out in the yard alone with the kids because she'll bite them - my husband says we'd be safer with them in the yard with a stranger! Any help on this breed would be very much appreciated!!

I have an olde english bulldogge too. Mine has been a lump love since I took her in as a rescue. She is the exact opposite of everything you described. I would imagine you have some bad pit in there some place. Sorry for your bad experience, but you know you can never change their temperment. I would have not problems putting a dog down that is aggressive to their family without provocation. Ours love my 2y/o son who climbs on her, and she walks him around the house like a horse. She will block him from the stairs if one of the other kids leaves the gate open. She is very mindful and maternal, now she's pregnant and is vocally aggressive towards one of our other dogs. But has never nipped or growled at anything other than a lazer pointer that I was playing with.

My bulldogge has her description taken from yours! Mine is lovable and i could not have picked a better dog.I have not had to do hardly any training with her,i have just talked to her and guilded her. I have found mine to just want to receive and give love. She likes to look at the dog whisperer on tv. My roxy, is the exact opposite also of the one discribed as terrible!!!

My Olde English is the same way I got her from a breeder in Texas. She was Lazy and loving when she was a pup but now she is crazy and wild! She loves to jump at the babies and knock them over.! She is huge and loves to destroy things. I've had a lot of friends suggest obedience classes.

Hello, I have owned 3 olde english bulldogges for the last 10 years. From SBK Line. I have to say they are the most perfect dogs. Excellent temp. smart and gentle with children. Very smart and obedient and extremely healthy. However, I have to say, there are tons of "fake" olde english bulldogges! My dogs have exact personalities of the Modern English. Beware. Most are typically mixed with pit bulls or american with a modern english. That's were I think besides the lanky off portion structure comes from and worst of all the TEMPERMENT. Sorry you had encountered a bad breeder. If you like there are rescues and family who'd love to adopt her, look around and best wishes...I'd highly recommend this true breed to anyone who loves a bulldog with or without children, without the concern of genetic health issues that the modern constantly have....cost way to much to maintain. once again, best wishes.

yeah i think you ended up w/ something other than a "old english" my guy is 10 months old now and is absolutely the best dog i have ever had. He amazes me every day i do feel that i got the best one from the litter. Cooper is loving w/ kids and everyone in the family. But isnt afraid to puff his chest out when something doesnt seem right. My yard isnt even fenced in and he is right by my side. If he does see a cat or another dog he will puff up a bit but all i have to say is "right here" and point to the ground. He always is compliant. Just dont give up it will take a few years to get that out of your dog. Just get control of the biting or you should get rid of her. Also my "Cooper" will take treats from my hand and you can barley feel his lips touch your hand. But again he is smart enough that no one would come in my house uninvited thats for sure. Dont give up!! maybe call the animal shelter in your area about some training locations.
