I have an affinity for entering food and beverage contests! :) Wow! Just recieved notice from Cuervo (tequila) that my recipe- "Cuervo Black GingerRita" has won July's drink recipe contest! The prize is a Cuervo Gold margarita pitcher and a month's display of my recipe on the Cuervo website! I've always been a fan of good food, fine wine and spirits and ny friends consider me to be an excellent cook. Here is the recipe (perfect for hot weather, if I may say so) Rub a chilled margarita glass vigorously with a slice of fresh ginger. Wet the rim of the glass with lime juice and dip into chrytalised ginger. Fill the glass with 3 parts chilled Cuervo Black tequila and 1 part Ginger Beer. Garnish with fresh lime and ginger slices. Serve this puppy with chilled shrimp and cracked black peppercorn crackers and enjoy! :) PS: I tend to use a lot of ginger during the humid summer months because it seem to act as a natural cooling agent for the body.

Couldn't find your recipe at the site Peaceful. It sounds yummy though. Thanks too for the info re ginger, I was not aware of that. Shrimp, or as we call them, prawns, are a favourite food of mine.

They will post it in the site's recipe section and on the front page but they told me it might take a while... there website is so complex! :) I've already recieved the pitcher and it's beautiful! I'll finally have a use for those margarita glasses that I have... they have a cactus growing in them! LOL! :)

Oh that sounds absolutely wonderful! I'm not a big drinker but every once in a while when I get stressed out I love a good drink to relax. And Margarita's are one of my all time favorites. Next time I'm in the mood for one, I'll definitely try your recipe. Thanks and congratulations!

Congratulations! It sounds so yummy. I've never heard of ginger in a margarita, and I didn't know that ginger acts as a natural cooling agent. Bet Alton Brown didn't know that, either. LOL! I'm looking forward to trying this, sans the shrimp. I've never had a margarita in my life. Thanks for yet another winner.
