I'm guessing most of the regulars on mylot or people who make a living off the internet smoke or are chain smokers. I for one used to be a chain smoker, I consumed about a pack a day, an average of 25 sticks. For some reason I got this notion that it helped me relax and focus, especially when you add caffeine into the mix. It would be the perfect net junky's cocktail :). Though I decided to quit smoking sometime 2 year ago after I had an x-ray and saw black spots all over my lungs. I know first hand how hard it is to quit smoking, the perpetual debate with yourself, the constant "this will be the last" promises and what now. For me I managed to quit cold turkey style, just dropping the habit like a hot potato. The first 2 weeks was the hardest in terms dealing with the temptation, then you have about 2 weeks more of withdrawal sickness. Fortunately after that horrible month I never had a smoke since. Now that I am no longer a smoker, I ponder on the reasons why I started smoking in the first place. Obviously there are minimal or no advantages in doing it. How about the current smokers today? The only thing that worries me is that the target demographic of smokes are getting younger and younger by the year. Today's smokers don't even know who the Marlboro was :). To close, I ask you guys why do you smoke, and if you think it is worth it. Is it a conscious choice?

Do I smoke - yes I do. As to why I dont have a clue to be honest with you. I smoke 4-6 a day and never infront of my son or any other child. Is it worth absolutly not. I have quit so many times only to go back to smoking.

yeah that's what intrigues me, i mean when you are smoking you don't actually get to ask yourself why do you smoke in the first place. All that comes to mind is that sensation of contentment after you get your nicotine fix. i guess this is part of the addictive contents of smokes; but then again if you already know it aint good for you in any aspect why do it? i nean there must be an underlying reason right?
