I suppose the strangest thing that a neighbor asked to borrow would be an aspirin. She came over and stated that her child was feverish and that she was out of aspirin. Being a nurse, I knew that aspirin is contraindicated in children with fevers, as it can lead to Reye's syndrome. I declined to give her an aspirin and felt very awkward. Nurses are taught NOT to give out meds, as should someone have a reaction and be taken to the ER etc, we can be sued for prescribing meds without a license. I felt very badly. I offered to take her to the local pharmacy and allow her to get what she needed. She declined. It was a very awkward moment.

My parents and I drove together to meet some family for Thanksgiving. While my mother was out of the car, their neighbor called and asked my dad if he and his wife could use their oven because theirs broke. My dad didn't know what to say, so he said yes. When my mom found out she was livid (to get into their house, they had to tell their neighbors the code to their lock, plus the house was a mess).
