GM had problems with the BCM or body control module during the era your car was made. If a new key from the dealer does not fix the problem, have the security system checked by them. I say the dealer because it is the shortest chase regarding this malfunction. Some independent repair shops are equipped to handle this problem, but it pretty much requires dealer parts to fix. So cut out the middle man, brace yourself, and let GM fix it. I know - it sucks.
