what is a friend?

Hi Smilegirlha,
Well, about friends and friendship entire books and pages could be filled, however, a friend means for me the following:
1) Able to go to and ask for help when in trouble, or encouragement of sorts
2) Confide your secrets with
3) Have a great time together with, sharing a holiday, or a day out, shopping together, picnics
4) Go to, or call if you feel lost
5) Knowing you have a friend and you're not alone, even if without family, or a husband, or a wife
I am sure there are more things, but these are the important once for me :)

thanks for your reply ~ and i have some common points with you,a friend is to share some secrets or happinese or sadness,to play with,but sometimes the person help you out of trouble is actually yourself not a friend...maybe

yeah i see ,and maybe there is few friends as what you said (true friends),so life is so short and friends are so valuable~~maybe that is right? i find that true friends are more and more hard to look for,is that in your life?

Hi Smilegirlha,
Well, yes and no, and sure, we do mostly all that we need to do ourselves, however, we at times do need someone to stand next to us, the knowledge to know that we are not alone, and that there is someone we can rely on, and will continue to be our friend - no matter what :)
And at times we do need encouragement to be on our way, to take the one, the important step towards our goal - and this is how I recognize who is my friend, my real friend ;)

Friend can be a person or thing. A familiar or helpful. Or a person with whom has a bond of mutual affection.
