We lived in a shoe-box apartment!

Years before we moved into our more spacious home and our daughter was born, my spouse and I lived in a tiny apartment. It was so small that I nicknamed it the "Shoe box". Don't ask me why we'd ever live in such a small place. It was all his idea. He signed the apartment lease without consulting me and then we were stuck.
That place was tiny! I don't even think it was 700 sq. feet. More likely it was 500 square feet. But, I never bothered to measure it. There just wasn't enough room for anything. The Shoe-box apartment had a tiny kitchen so small that a full sized refrigerator took up almost one fourth of the floor space. Now that's small. And, the bedroom was exactly the width of the bed. What a pain! The minute I found our current home we moved out of that place and have never looked back. Now I know not to trust him with apartment or house hunting!
So, what's the tiniest apartment or home that you have ever lived in? How did you manage?

As an adult I've never lived anywhere too small. The first place I lived when I moved out while I was still in high school was a mobile home. I think it was 14x60 or so. I don't remember exactly. It had two bedrooms and a fairly large kitchen so it wasn't too bad. It was the first place I lived besides with my parents (where I shared a room with my sister), so it seemed okay. I just had one roommate, and neither of us had much stuff.
My husband and I were lucky enough to get right into base housing as soon as we got married, so we never had to live in a tiny apartment downtown. Our house on base had about 1500 square feet, which is pretty close to the same as what our house that we just bought has.

That is very roomy! You got lucky both times. But, I'm sure you love the convenience of being in your own home.
Good find on the house. It's tough locating affordable, yet roomy real estate. Best of luck with your house and baby! Be well. Thanks for dropping by.

I lived in a 12X50 mobile home for about 3 years. By the math is about 600 sq ft. But when you take into consideration the closets, the furnace, the water heater, bathroom and the kitchen cabinets that takes it down quite a bit. It was probably at best 400 sq ft of living space.
The only saving grace was there was space under the trailer (it was still on wheels and jacks but enclosed with a metal skirting) to store large items like my ladders and some larger yard tools. I also had a small 4X8 metal shed in the yard that came in very handy for storing my bicycle and other things. It was not easy to manage, I was forever having to rearrange things to make room for something new. I loved my trailer but it was a tiny space to live in. Good thing I lived alone at the time, it was ok for just one person.

Hey I think I've lived in that trailer too! Yes, I've done some single living in my day as well. Unfortuntately at the time, there were two of us living in the space meant for one. So, that was not good. I am happy that things improved for you. Maybe your luck changed for the better. Mine did! It's bound to happen when you keep hanging in there. Good luck! Be well.

Our apartment is 625 sq feet, counting the walls. It's pretty small. But everything fits, and this area is pretty expensive.

LOL—He was probably thinking price- Most men do! We lived in an apartment that was small too – and it was upstairs- so it was hot- and the neighbors were so loud and noisy- We lived there for about 2 months (my daughter and me) my sig. other was selling his house in NC- as soon as it sold we moved to a much bigger place- and from there to our current house that we own.
