I use cold water for my laundry at home. It's cheaper than using hot or warm, and it works pretty well for me. If I take laundry to the laundry mat, as I sometimes do, since our well's been running low on water, I use warm water there. I cna get my clothes washed and dried, faster there, but I still don't like going.

I wash all towels including wash cloths in very hot water with bleach or non-whitening bleach for colors but I would always use hot water because cold water doesn't kill germs, bacteria or anything like that. I think cold water is just good for clothes you want to wash but not shrink, but I could be wrong unless something knows something that I don't, please share it with us. I wouldn't want to give info that was wrong. I still will wash all kinds of towels, wash cloths and such in hot water. Spot removing is a very good idea too.

I alwasys use cold water.
It gets my clothes cleaned just fine.
I just throw some soap in and voila, they are clean.
Plus it saves on propane considering my hot water heater is run off propane.
