Is there another X-files movie on the horizon?

Today on Extra TV entertainment show, David Duchovney revealed that there is most likely another X-files movie on the horizon. That's really good news for fans who have waited so many long years for news from the X-files front. They sort of left us hanging when the series ended.
But, I have to wonder, after nine years of X-files (or was it eight?) what more does X-files and Cris Carter have to say to us? Is it possible they will start another completly different story line not related to the one that ended the show several years back? Do you think the next movie will live up to the series? Or, could a potential movie series for X-files be a better direction than the series itself?
And, the biggest question of all, will Muldar (David Duchovney) actually be in the film? He was noticably absent for most of the last two to three seasons. What do you think?

I was talking about that with a friend another day. We came to the conclusion that this movie will not satisfy the fans. They can't go back, the actors are getting old. So the plot should be in the future, with William already a teen.
A teen with special powers? Already done so many times.
They could show the end of the world in 2012. That has been done too.
I really don't believe in a good movie coming out of this.

I've read and seen a lot about that lately. David Duchovny is quoted as saying he is attached to the new X-Files movie, as is Gillian Anderson. So they are both ready, and they have a director and producer, they just have to finish the script. He talked a little about it again in this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly, but when into greater detail on and in other avenues.
A lot of time has passed, but I don't think this will hurt the chance of it becoming a hit. I mean The X-Files was so original, that you can't help but remember it, even the last season that wasn't very good. When the movie is ready to hit the screens, I know I'll be there. And I'm sure others will follow. : )

I'd love to see them address the future of Scully's baby, and others like it. I don't think either of them would have signed up if they thought it was going to do the show an injustice. I really hope they follow through with the project.
