Anyone Else Enjoy Fanfic?

Okay I'm going to disclose one of my guilty pleasures here - I enjoy reading fan fiction (fanfic) Partly because I often find that the fics take me places the tv shows never would and partly because when you really enjoy a show and it goes off the air/the series ends etc it's just a good way to keep in touch with some of your favourite characters - afterall we often invest a lot of time with those characters - watching them battle others, start or end relationships, lose family etc etc etc.
Now I know there's a lot of us around that do enjoy both reading and writing fanfic (even if they won't admit it to anyone:-) ) And the fics they read are in a variety of fandoms: from tv shows and movies to novels and comic books.
I actually made a squidoo lens the other day http://www.squidoo.com/fan-fiction/ to hopefully make it a little easier for people to find fics in their favourite fandoms - or if you're interested and you have a lens of your own (or want to make one) you can add it to this group http://www.squidoo.com/groups/fanfic
So come on 'fess up - who else enjoys fanfic?

Me too, guilty of reading and writing them. But mine are based on a group of artists I like, but I do remember writing an HP based fanfiction years ago. I haven't written anything for a while but I do hope to write something soon. It's fun, therapeutic and honestly it gives me the freedom to let my imagination run riot...lol!!!

I read it and write it. I mainly have written Hex and American Gothic. And one Planet Terror fic. I do like to read all different kinds. I mainly post mine on fanfic.net and my LJ account.

I haven't written any myself, but I do enjoy reading it. If you ever want to submit any to my new fanfiction archive (http://fanfic-4all.com/stories) please do - I don't have those fandoms listed yet but I'll happily add them for you :) the more stories and choices the better as far as I'm concerned.

I write fan fiction as well as read it. I get rather upset when the show ends too early and when the characters are left up in the air, and I like reading what the authors think might have happened as well as what happened between episodes. It is all so interesting. People do not understand that it takes a lot of imagination to figure out alternate endings or make up a future for characters some one else made up.

You're right and sometimes you come across a story that totally nails the characters etc so you can easily visualise it happening.
I'm often amazed at what the writers can come up with and how they can continue the lives of the characters so the story just flows on from where the series or episode etc ended.

I am guilty of both reading and writing fanfiction, mostly Star Trek and a little Harry Potter, back in the day.

Good for you :-) as I mentioned above I've thought about it a few times.
If you're interested and have any of your fanfic online anywhere I have both those fandoms in my blog if you want to leave a comment and link to them etc. (you can get to the blog off the lens listed above)
I still have a lot more fansites, fandoms to add yet so it's going to keep growing (hopefully)

I love fan fiction. It's helped me to practice my writting skills enough to the point where I have an agent trying to sell a book that I have written. Half the time I treated the book like fan fiction, I just pretended that things were put into cement and filled it out from there.

I have read it, and still do. I started reading Fanfic when a certain book is gone forever XD(The author doesn't want to write another,Lazys),even though the story changes drastically and I feel like banging my head(Because the person writing the Fanfic made turn/things that the real author would have't done because it wouldn't got with the story). But I like it:)

LOL--I kid you not, I no sooner got done writing a post about the first constructive critique on my first FF.net fan fic than I saw the link to your post! ;)
Anyway, yes, I do like fan fictions, though more writing than reading. ;)
