Good advice or bad advice

Have you ever had someone give you terrible advice at a really inappropriate time? I remember when I got married, a crazy uncle of mine came up to me and my husband at the reception and told us that plenty of people stayed married for 30-40 years and then got divorced. He then proceded to tell us that we just needed to tough it out and hang in there. This was also coming from a man that has been married like 4 times I think. What about good advice? My mom always told me to be myself, no matter what anyone else thought of me. It may sound completly cheesy and cliche, but it is so true. I have never compromised who I am or what I believe for anyone. I accept people for who they are and I expect the same in return. What advice have you received?

Your mother is very right. I believe that the best advice I have ever gotten is to never take anyone's advice. I listen to others and agree with myself.

Whether you listen to your own advice or someone else, if something goes wrong, you have no one to blame but you. So you might as well go with your own advice.

How did you guys react to your uncle? That's really a bad time to talk about those stuff. But oh well, when is the best time anyways? *LOL* Yeah, there are times when people, especially friends do that to me. I had one good friend of mine telling me suddenly (I didn't ask for any advise whatsoever) that I should go look for someone else because she thinks my boyfriend isn't as real as should be, why? Because I have never gotten the chance to let her meet him due to reasons that he's far, we do meet but it's only for a few days or so, but we constantly talk. I mean, I have let my other friends meet him, I have even let him meet my aunt for something. We're open with the family. Anyways, my point is, it was an unsolicited advise coming from someone who couldn't even fix her own thing. But I just shrugged it off. The best advice from a friend: Enjoy the feeling. That simple. Yet effective. Both for happy moments and sad moments as well. *LOL* Either that friend was really smart or was really lazy. *LOL* =)

My husband and I just looked at each other and kinda started walking away slowly as he got distracted by other guests!:P I have a friend that likes to give advice that is totally uncalled for. I don't ask for her opinion, but she really likes to give it, ya know? It gets on my nerves.:) She's the kind of person that has no right to be giving advice to anyone because she can barely handle herself.

Yeah, exactly. It just really gets on my nerves. It's a good thing though that I can control my temper. Or else, I think I'd lost a friend by this time. *LOL*

Good advice - never argue with a woman, you will never win! My dear mother was a classic example. You would start by saying black was not white. After 3 hours of chewing this back and forth that black WAS white my mother would then say 'Well of course black is not white - that is what I said in the first place!' Aaaaaagh! Runs away and beats head on wall!!! haha I really loved my mum.

There are times that when you seek advice to other people it's either good or bad that they will give. Some give indirect advice but weighing it, it falls on bad. Sometimes people compare two situations and it's up to you to take the move. No matter how good or bad those advices are, I always take a point to take and make my own decisions. It 's better and safer.

I take all advice as bad advice. Ha ha. I'm really indecisive and I ask people for advice, but I never actually take it. I always just kind of do my own thing in the end anyway...on instinct. I think some of the worst advice people give me are to try to work things out with my brother and his wife, when, unless the two of them grow up, it's not gonna do a darn bit of good. Good advice is... I think I give myself the best advice normally :)

I hate when people tell me to work things out with my dad too. They will never know what my sister and I have been through with him. I think I give myself the best too. My mom has a few winners every now and then.:)
