For me, I'm a silent reader. Inorder to learn quickly or understand i need to read the stuff silently but I have seen some of my friends, they can't read silently. They just have to open their mouth and disturb me while studying as I'm easily distracted. What about you? You read silently or aloud?

Hi, even i am a very silnet reader, as i cannot concentrate at all if there is any kind of noise around me, so much so i have to even close the windows so that anyone making a noise outside, doesnt bother me! Yes, i have also seen people who need music and lots of loud noises around them to learn or do their task or work. I also wonder how they manage . Its ok if we are working at other things, but while studying or reading, things where we do need to concentrate, i need pin drop silence at all times. My sister for instance needs lots of noise around her, so we have always had tiffs when we were younger, and i had to move to another room so that i could study!!

I read with my eyes, not with my mouth. I had one roommate before who hiss when she reads. Its like she mouths the words and I can hear only the 'esses.' I guess we all have our own way of understanding things and thats how some people do.

I am a silent reader, for several reasons, one like you said it's distracting in a way to hear myself read. I find myself more focused on pronunciation than taking in information. I also can read with my mind several times faster than trying to read out loud. It's kind of like typing. I see a post and the answer is within my mind with in mere seconds. However to put the information down, by typing it out, now adds more time to it. It's the same with reading out loud and reading in one's head IMO.

I read using my eyes, silently and putting each and every words in my heart and mind!;) I believe this do help make us comprehend more what we are reading, to analyze the essence of the topic. Since I started going to school, I was taught to always read using my eyes whenever we were told to. I only read aloud if my teacher taught me to do so, like reciting and oral examinations.

Hi there. I love reading silently, I take more of the story in and can visualize and focus on what Im reading... I cant concentrate reading aloud, for personal reading, unless I were reading to my children...

i read silently..because when i read aloud, i won't actually understand or it would be very difficult for me to understand what i'm actually reading...about your friends disturbing you..then again, reading and comprehending behavior varies among different types of people..
