Does tomato juice really get the skunk smell out??

I heard that if you or your pets are sprayed by a skunk bathing in tomato juice takes the smell away. does this really work? are there other ways to get the smell out besides the tomato juice?

that is what I heard but I do not get close enough to get sprayed with the worst smelling perfume lol

Tomato juice in an excellent Bloody Mary will make you not care what anything smells like! LOL! :) But seriously, skunk is so highly acrid and long lasting that you must neutralize it as quickly as possible... on it's set it will be very hard to get rid of... http://www.howtogetridofstuff.com Good luck and I hope that this never happens to you or your pets! :)
