So hey guys. I need some help with this. A friend of mine joined the navy when she was 17 because she was mad at her parents. They told her she'd have to leave the september after graduation ( which is next month). She doesnt want to do it anymore and is really worried. She never signed the second part of the contract so can they make her go??? If they can what are some ways to get kicked out of the Navy???

wow- that is not good- i tried researching it for you online but haven't found anything.... I didn't think they could take her at 17 without her parents signature. If she really doesn't want to go she should just call the recruiting office, where she signed up, and ask or you could call for her and just ask them questions at random. I don't think getting thrown out of the Navy is a good idea- she would get a dishonorable discharge- and I don't think she wants that on her record. She could always say she is a lesbian- there is a no tolerance law for gays- but I am not sure what kind of discharge she would get.

Thanks for the help. I tried looking online to but it was no help... although we did find a bunch of stories we've ppl got kick out for being gay, those laws are lame but that looks like it would be her safest bet. anyway if you come across anything let me know. Thanks again.

just call the recruiting office and ask them-- like I said I don't think she will have to go because she was 17 when she first signed and you said she hasn't signed the second contract right??? You don't have to say who you are or who you are calling for--- you could probably find a recruiting office in another town where no one would know either of you...then just ask them.

Just goes to prove a tenet that I've had to learn the hard way - Never make any decisions while you're angry. Hopefully, your friend might be able to get out of this without having to join and then being dishonorably discharged. That DD would make future employment difficult. On the other hand, have you considered that maybe if she went in the Navy and stayed, the training and discipline she'd get would be good for her? Either way, I hope this story has a happy ending.
