Have your parents decided your future?

Have your parents decided your future - did they decide what you would - or will - take in college - what college you would go to - or even - if you will go. Did they subtly or overtly choose or try to choose your mate, your friends, your clothes?

they tried to decide what should i do but they couldn't i decided what university should i follow i decide to have a baby against their wish,i am still with my lover against their wish.but until i will get financial independence i still have to dance as they sing reffering to the small things

Well as a parent, we should prepare something for our kid's future but it doesn't mean that we will be the one to decide for themselves...what course they like to take. We are just more concern of things that are going to happen...we must mold them and make them strong enough to face storms in life.
I trust my kids and I know they are responsible enough to choose their friends...but sometimes we need to give them reminders too.

It be great if all parents were like you. Setting aside money for a child's future - but letting them decide their career path for themselves. Being supportive of their decisions but of course, first instilling the decision making abilities and moral fiber so they make appropriate choices.
Too many parents want to choose what their kids do for a living and what they can't do and want to choose friends based on class or gender or nationality or other things which should not factor in.
