Some parents think its a positive thing - better education and that sort of thing. Some believe its a way to pawn off your children to someone else. What do you think?

Hi, well no i dont think its right to pawn off your kids to someone else and think that you have done away with a burden of your life, thats very wrong more so as they are your kids and if you have brought them into this world, you are fully responsible for them. Yes, i agree that once in a lifetime, all kids must experience the boarding school and how it feels to be there, but that time should be when the kids are little grown up and able to take care of themselves, when they are willing to go to the boarding with an open mind to pick up and learn things from them, and not as a punishment. Boarding surely teaches you discipline and to be self relaint, the two major things and changes your outlook towards life and your priorities, but there is an age for everything too. Whether the education will be better or not, depends on the school , staff and student themselves, but boarding i would suggest every parent to surely put the kids in, just a little while, for the experience.

I couldn't do it. I only had one daughter but I really couldn't send her away to boarding school. Now I have three grandsons and I still couldn't do it. I know that people do and it's just fine but for myself, I just couldn't do it.

Thanks for your honesty and your participation. I don't hink I could do it either. I do want him either to go to an alternative school or be homeschooled. I want to instil a love of learning. And teach him not to memorize, regurgitate the information for tests and then forget it. I want to teach him how to actually learn. And take in and process information and keep it long term memory.

I send my boys to a private school they can get a better education, I don't know if it is as good as those boarding schools but at least I get to see my kids everyday instead of only on weekends and holidays or whatever.

Its admirable to want to give your kids a better education and at the same time want to spend time with them.
